Yesterday, a convoy of CRPF personnel was attacked by terrorists. While one terrorist rammed his explosives laden vehicle into the front vehicles, others shot at the remaining 75 vehicles in the convoy. Over 40 constables have died in this murderous attack on the CRPF convoy.

In a statement issued after the attack, the CRPF has vowed to revenge the lives of its personnel lost in the Pulwama attack. The CRPF statement read, “WE WILL NOT FORGET, WE WILL NOT FORGIVE:We salute our martyrs of Pulwama attack and stand with the families of our martyr brothers. This heinous attack will be avenged.”

According to news reports, a large CRPF convoy, comprising more than 2500 CRPF personnel was moving from Jammu towards their respective locations in the Kashmir Valley. Since the weather was quite bad for the past few days, the convoy had to delay their operations for a while. They were caught in an ambush on the Srinagar – Jammu Highway at Latoomode in Awantipora, situated in the Pulwama district of the state of Jammu & Kashmir & Ladakh.

A terrorist driving the explosives-laden vehicle rammed his bus into the front buses of the cordon. The massive explosions destroyed two buses in one go, while other buses were shot at by unidentified assailants. According to the experts, the explosives comprised of IEDs as well, and this led to the massive casualties.

It later turned out that the local cell of the notorious terror outfit Jaish E Muhammad was behind this dastardly attack, as confirmed by a snippet released by the same to a local Kashmiri news portal GNS. The deceased terrorist was a local Kashmiri, Alim Ahmed Dar, who hailed from Kakrapora in Pulwama district of the state.

The attack killed over 40 CRPF constables many were left injured. The exact casualties are yet to be figured out, and it is feared that the number of martyrs can rise as well.

The authorities have sprung into action without delay as of now, and a top-level committee has been formed to discuss further actions, chaired by the National Security Adviser, Shri Ajit Doval. PM Narendra Modi was aghast on hearing about the cowardly attacks, as evident from the following tweet:

In response to the attack, India has already revoked the ‘Most Favoured Nation’ status given to Pakistan. India is mulling further action to retaliate against this dastardly attack.
