In a recent media interaction, the Congress President, Rahul Gandhi, stated that he had a meet with Chinese officials during his visit to Kailash Mansarovar. Talking about the meeting, the Congress president explained that he was discussing matters surrounding the problem of un-employment with Chinese delegates. The meeting came under the scanner because no official notice of it was given in public.
Addressing a public meeting, Rahul Gandhi said, “Why is automation not having an impact on job creation in China? When I went to Kailash Mansarovar, met a couple of their ministers who said job creation is not a problem. The real issue is if you are producing things & are in technology stream then you don’t have a problem”. A war of words erupted between the BJP and the Congress afterwards, as the saffron party claimed that the meeting was un-ethical.

BJP is going to further raise the issue and plans to hold a press conference regarding the issue. But, Rahul Gandhi, for a long time, has been doing the same and has remained ignorant of the nation’s security. Earlier, in 2018, questions were raised over the connection between Rahul’s Yatra and Beijing as well. In a press conference just after these controversies broke out, questioning Gandhi scion’s affection for the Chinese, BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra said, “Rahul wants India to learn decentralization of democracy from China. Why so much love for China and why he behaves like a Chinese spokesperson rather than Indian spokesperson”.
Earlier, in August last year, Rahul Gandhi went on a 15-day trip to Kailash Mansarovar and such controversies started coming out since then. Raising suspicion on the pilgrimage of the AICC President, Patra further added, “Rahul Gandhi has left for China via Nepal. Rahul Ji has an obsession for China. Why is it that Mr. Gandhi always wants to get a Chinese view on everything but does not want to have an Indian perspective? Which politicians will he meet there?” Surprisingly, the Chinese Embassy had written a letter to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on August 29th, this letter contained a request made to the MEA for a special access pass at the IGI Airport in New Delhi for the 31st of August. But, what should raise an eyebrow is the fact that the special access pass is being asked for so that the Chinese Counselor of the Embassy of China, Mr. Zhou Yuyun can see off the Congress president.
But this was not the only time the Congress President set aside national security and went on to meet India’s biggest Asian rival. Earlier, last to last year in 2017 too, the Congress President had a meeting with a Chinese convoy amidst the Doklam standoff, while the Indian government was not informed about it. Tensions had been on the rise after the Doklam Standoff between India and China when the Chinese forces had entered the piece of land owned by Bhutan. The relation between the two fast developing countries had turned sour when both the countries refused to back down from the area which had a high strategic importance. While negotiations and talks between the two countries had been raging on and tensions were on the rise on both sides, Rahul Gandhi had set off secretly to meet the Chinese Ambassador, Luo Zhaohui.
Not only that, yesterday, in Bhopal, while a Congress worker asked Rahul Gandhi about his experience of the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra; the Gandhi scion went speechless. Later though, the interview went viral and Rahul Gandhi made a huge show of his “brilliance”. The interview raised question about whether the trip was really a pilgrimage.
All these incidents point toward at a single fact, the Congress President seems to have no concerns for national security. Rahul Gandhi’s stature in Indian politics is dwindling on a day to day basis, maybe he wants to send the message that the Congress is still relevant in the Indian political scene by having talks with the Chinese but there could also be some hidden, nefarious agenda behind these.
