PM Narendra Modi is one of the most popular prime ministers India has ever had. With back to back reformative measures, followed by his no-nonsense approach to the current political issues, his popularity is growing by leaps and bounds. As such, it is no surprise if even the bigwigs from Bollywood are now warming up with him.
Quite recently, a select group of filmmakers and actors had met PM Modi with an eye towards giving more power to the filmmaking industry. Comprising mostly popular celebrities like Vicky Kaushal, Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt, Bhumi Pednekar etc.; the group was warmly received by the Prime Minister, and their selfies with him went absolutely viral on the social media.
Extending their gratitude, PM Modi visited Mumbai in order to inaugurate the National Museum for Indian Cinema. Not only did he meet several dignitaries from the Bollywood, but also he acknowledged the popularity of the recently released ‘Uri – The Surgical Strike’, as he asked, ‘How’s the Josh?’, to which the audience enthusiastically chanted – ‘HIGH SIR!’
While PM Modi met a lot of celebrities in his visit to Mumbai, there were some who weren’t ‘that lucky’. One of these was popular actor Kartik Aaryan, who posted this selfie tweet:-
Losers’ backfie with the
Honorable PM! 🙈#ImtiazAli @karanjohar #Dineshvijjan pic.twitter.com/Cl9yYSf2Hc— Kartik Aaryan (@TheAaryanKartik) January 19, 2019
This tweet saw Kartik Aaryan along with producers Dinesh Vijan and Karan Johar and filmmaker Imtiaz Ali, taking a selfie as PM Modi proceeded for further interactions. One could sense that ‘Punchnama’ guy was eager to have an interaction with the honorable PM. He was disappointed either, as the PM posted a witty reply to his tweet, as shown below:-
Not losers but Rockstars!
No selfie Jab We Met but there will always be another occasion. :) https://t.co/1Ud7D5jIvd

Going by the tweet, it is certain that not only PM Modi is popular; he is also quite humorous when it comes to displaying one’s skills in word pun. Kartik Aaryan was overwhelmed by this tweet, and he acknowledged the gesture with the following tweet:-
Epic 🙏🏻😂 https://t.co/2UrdAJBq8K

Kartik Aaryan is not the only one who is enchanted by the charismatic personality of PM Modi. When the group of filmmakers and artists had met PM Modi, actors Ranveer Singh, Vicky Kaushal etc. were quite vocal in their appreciation for PM Modi. In fact, before the group met him, Vicky Kaushal had posted a short video of his promotion for ‘URI’, which not only went viral but was also acknowledged and appreciated by PM Modi, when he addressed the gathering at the National Museum for Indian Cinema.
However, there is one curious thing that most people missed. In the selfie clicked by Kartik Aaryan, filmmaker Imtiaz Ali was present. As far as our memory serves us, wasn’t Imtiaz Ali the same guy who appealed to the masses to not vote for PM Modi in 2014? Wasn’t he the same guy who had joined the select group of left liberal celebrities like Mahesh Bhatt, Vijay Krishna Acharya, Kabir Khan, Zoya Akhtar, Anjum Rajabali , Aditi Rao Hydari etc. into writing an open letter to the masses, appealing them to vote for anybody but PM Modi? What is the reason for this sea change now? Isn’t this opportunism?
Keeping the hypocrisy aside, it is quite interesting to see a Prime Minister interacting with such a warm and open attitude with the masses and the classes alike. The humorous banter between him and Kartik Aaryan is a clear sign of how much PM Modi is among Bollywood celebrities.
