PM Narendra Modi is known to inculcate innovation and strategic approach when it comes to campaigning and promoting for a wider audience. Recently, PM Modi invited Bollywood stars in the Prime Minister Office (PMO) for a meeting to discuss issues related to cinema. The meeting seems to be PM Modi’s masterstroke and a part of a wider strategy to reach out to the ‘Instagram generation’.

In a similar manner, PM Modi gave an interview to a Facebook and Instagram page, Humans of Bombay, a few days ago. In the interview, PM Modi talked about his personal experience as a kid, his early life and his journey to become the Prime Minister of the world largest democracy. Through this step, the saffron party hopes to establish a connection with the younger generation. Socializing with the rising stars of Bollywood will help PM Modi to appeal to a large number of first-time voters who are set to play a crucial role in the upcoming general elections.

On the other hand, the old guards of the Bollywood like Naseeruddin Shah, Javed Akhtar, and others have time and again raised eyebrows and adopted the tried and tested formula of intolerance while the younger generation and rising superstars have shown immense belief in PM Modi and his leadership. The old guards mostly dominated by left-liberals, always come up with sensations like ‘intolerance’ and they resort to ‘award wapsi’ whenever they find election near. But it seems that these illogical stunts of the old guards are just for the sake of remaining relevant. The recent statement of Naseeruddin Shah is a perfect example of this. Earlier, Naseeruddin Shah had made accused the government of ill-treatment of minorities in India. But when he received brickbats for his comments, he tried to evoke sympathy by declaring himself as an ex-supporter of PM Modi, as he said, “I had great faith in 2014, when he ascended to power. I won’t go so far as to say that my faith has been shaken. I still look forward to the future. I have no regrets about saying what I said. I do not backtrack at all.”

In the wake of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, all the political parties are trying their best to connect with the young generation. But PM Modi seems to be a front runner once again. PM Modi’s innovative campaign strategies have always left the opposition baffled. Be it 3-D rallies or ‘Chai Pe charcha’ campaign in 2014 and now holding meetings with Bollywood stars, the Grand Old party seems to be losing in the campaigning itself.
