The “pliable media” of India is floating on cloud nine since the Congress officially inducted Priyanka Gandhi into the party and appointed her as the party general secretary for Uttar Pradesh East. The Congress cheerleaders in the leading media houses of the country were more happy than the Congress party workers. Darbari Media came up with with long write-ups about her mythical leadership skills and described the youngest member of Nehru-Gandhi political dynasty as the ace in the hands of the Congress.
Some of the leading neutral newspapers like ‘The Telegraph’ even came up with headlines like these:
The Indian media’s jubilant reaction on Priyanka Gandhi taking formal leadership role in the Congress party went on to show their feudal mindset. It showed that they are nothing but mindslaves of the most celebrated political dynasty of the nation; they are in the media not to serve the society but to serve a particular political family. The media seems to be working on to establish TINA (There is no alternative) fallacy as a truth and for that, they are leaving no stone unturned.
Foreign media however showed more guts and honesty than the Indian media. A newspaper from New Zealand, The Press, had the most hilarious take on it.
The New Zealand daily described Priyanka Gandhi’s entry into the politics as ‘Rajiv Gandhi’s daughter joins family firm’. It further highlights the fact that her father, grand mother, and great grand father were all prime ministers. It also says that Priyanka will report to her brother, Rahul Gandhi, a fellow descendant of Nehru Gandhi family who is the chief of the Congress party which is also the main opposition party of India.

The news of New Zealand’s newspaper ‘The Press’ went viral in India like a wildfire.
Because many English educated Indians believe congress to be a political party we need to cite Englishman's newspaper to say they also think Congress is a trading firm and not a political party. They were slaves of the White, now slaves of the family firm. Shame https://t.co/DurAnCvbHQ

"Priyanka Gandhi joins the family firm," says a New Zealand newspaper. Lesson for Indian media. Be clinical. Call dynastic political parties what they are: proprietary firms https://t.co/fIueOx4r0K

Compare the news report of New Zealand media with that of Indian media which busy in writing paean to Priyanka Gandhi.
Infact, a journalist was caught in the act of directing Congress workers to display more enthusiasm about Priyanka Gandhi Vadra. Some social media users claimed that India Today group reporter, Mausami Singh, was stage managing the entire event in order to make it more presentable and impactful. Here is a video by The Frustrated Indian that proves the same.
Is this not what pliable means?
More than 48 hours have passed since Priyanka’s entry in Indian politics, but instead of asking tough questions to Priyanka related to the controversial business deals of her husband, the media is enthusiastically campaigning for her and proudly acting as her PR agency.
As the next general elections are around the corner, Lutyens’ media isn’t even pretending to stay neutral and is ready to go any distance in order bring back their political masters back to power. Instead of reporting news, they will openly create propaganda in favour of their political party and its leaders. In such a situation it’s very important to follow what Thomas Sowell has said: “If people in the media cannot decide whether they are in the business of reporting news or manufacturing propaganda, it is all the more important that the public understand that difference, and choose their news sources accordingly.”
Meanwhile we are also coming up with our own ‘Fake News busting show’. Here’s the teaser:
