I had read stories about the turn-around in passenger service by the Indian Railways under Minister Piyush Goyal but a few days back, I got to understand why the Railways has now become universally respected. It all began when I lost my bag at Nagpur station in train number 22691. The bag had some very valuable items including a camera. Having no idea about how to retrieve the lost bag, I sought help from the Railway Ministry on twitter.

To my surprise, the response of the ministry came within minutes.
Kindly share complete details of incident with PNR for further assistance.

As asked, I shared my PNR details promptly and geared myself up for a long wait. But again, to my surprise, the Railway Seva twitter handle directed the RPF WCR to look into the matter. Within minutes of my complaint, I had received responses from three different departments of Indian Railways. Being aware of the Indian bureaucracy and having listened to harrowing tales of ‘sarkari babus’ inefficiency, the promptness of the concerned departments was not just surprising but also very inspiring.
Within 3 and half hours of the initial complaint, I was notified by the Senior DSC, RPF Bhopal that my bag has been found.
The kind of attention, care, compassion and service we received is unmatched and unparalleled. The prompt action that the concerned departments of the Railways took and the co-ordination between these departments was not something I had ever thought was possible in Indian ‘Sarkari system’.
However, I am happy to report that the Indian Railways is living up to the standards in passenger service that Shri Piyush Goyal has tried to instill in the system. Sri Jyoti Kumar Satija ji DSC RPF Nagpur also explained how they help 1200 distressed passengers every year, that is 4 cases every day!
He also shared picture of a year old disabled child who was abandoned. How Team RPF Nagpur took care of child and also found her parents.
I am short of words to explain how I feel about this experience, it is so beautiful & beyond expectations.
Hats off to Sri Piyush Goel ji and Sri Arun Kumar ji for setting up highest standards of Governance & Citizen First service.
I am very proud today that I am an Indian and protected by such beautiful, committed teams who hold highest character and passion for their duty. As citizens, we must all stand for these heroes & appreciate at every opportunity we get. They deserve our respect. Moreover, they need out support to make this ONE STRONG nation! Jai Hind!
