It seems that tainted IPS officer Sanjiv Bhatt is neck deep in trouble. A court in Banaskantha district of the Gujarat state has rejected his bail plea in the drug implant case, castigating him for his shady profile and sending a terse message to other such people as well.
The court in Banaskantha, that is working under the directions of the orders issued by Gujarat High Court, denied a bail plea to Sanjiv Bhatt in the drug implant case of 1998. To quote the order issued by Additional Sessions Judge Prashant S Brahmbhatt, “It appears that prima facie the accused (Bhatt) was involved in the conspiracy. The accused has a “criminal past” and in one case charges have been framed against him by a different court. Despite being a class-I police officer, the accused [Sanjiv Bhatt] misused his office. If he is granted bail he may tamper with the evidence”
For those unaware, Sanjiv Bhatt is an IPS officer, who had gained notoriety for his allegations against the then Home Minister and current BJP President, Shri Amit Shah, in the Sohrabuddin Sheikh Encounter case. He was recently arrested for his role in a drug implant case of 1998, when he had got Sumer Singh Rajpurohit, a Pali based lawyer, abducted for not giving in to his demands of having a property vacated in the favor of a relative the then Gujarat High court judge, Ramanlal Rajmal Jain.
Not only was Sumer abducted, but he was also falsely implicated in a narcotics case, slapped on him by Sanjiv Bhatt, who paid the local Palanpur police to buy drugs and implant on the lawyer. While rejecting his bail plea, the court also invoked the plight of the victim, as the judge further said in his order, “Had it been an ordinary citizen, there would not have been an option available for him but to remain a victim and tolerate the injustice.”
In his bail plea, Sanjiv Bhatt had requested bail on the grounds that there is a delay in the investigation of the case. To quote a DNA report, “He also submitted that he had been already interrogated in the case and has deep roots in the society with movable and immovable properties. Therefore, he is not likely to abscond or tamper with the evidence and jump the bail. He also argued before the court that he has no criminal antecedents and there is no legal evidence against him.”
However, the court accepted none of it and exposed Sanjiv’s own web of lies, as they found that he was facing trial in the courts of Ahmedabad, Jamnagar, and Pali. They refused to consider Bhatt’s argument that the cases in Pali and Palanpur are for a single transaction and that he should not be prosecuted for the same. They also stated that the observations of the High Court on the same cases are binding on them.
Interestingly, this is not the first time that Sanjiv Bhatt has been found accused or guilty of criminal activities. A rabid hatemonger, he has left no stone unturned in demonizing PM Modi and justifying anti-India activities at the drop of a hat.
From sharing fake images of Kerala floods to posting morphed pics of PM Modi’s wife, Jashoda Ben, to even making false allegations against NSA Ajit Doval on the murder of Lt. Umar Faiyaz, you name it and Sanjiv Bhatt has done it all. This time, however, his antics failed to rescue him, and we must appreciate the Gujarat court for seeing through the web of lies that this tainted cop has peddled.
