Here comes Naseeruddin Shah with intolerance 2.0

Naseeruddin Shah, victim card

PC: India Today

Looks like Swara Bhasker will now have some tough competition to herself when it comes to attention seeking. Actor Naseeruddin Shah has raised eyebrows again, as he adopts the tried and tested formula of playing the victim card, as he expressed concerned for his children in India of today.

A short video, titled ‘Tathya’ was put up by Karwaan e Mohabbat India, a left-liberal channel on YouTube, where Naseeruddin Shah expressed his concern for children, particularly his own, as he talked about mob based religious violence.

To quote his address, “I was given a religious education…but Ratna [Pathak Shah, Naseeruddin’s wife] did not get any religious education…[And] we chose not to give a religious education to our children. Good and evil have nothing to do with religion and so my children were not brought up in a religious environment.”

“So I fear for my children…Because if a mob gathers around them and asks them are you a Hindu or Muslim, they will not have any answer…Because they have no religion”, added Naseeruddin.

If this wasn’t enough, Naseeruddin also attacked the present government for not condemning the mob mentality, as he indirectly referred to the killing of a police officer in the controversial case of Bulandshahr, where mob violence broke out following the murder of a protesting student over the issue of cow carcasses by the local police.

He added that there is a “poison” that has spread in the Indian society and it will be very difficult to capture these djinns [genie] back into the bottle. He went on to add, “There is complete impunity for those who take the law into their own hands.”

To be honest, though atrocious and annoying, this is not the first time that this actor has resorted to such hypocrisy. Only 2 years ago, when he defended the protest against banning Pakistani artistes in the wake of Uri attack, he went on to say that ‘Pakistan is not India’s enemy and we are being brainwashed into thinking so.’ When he was trolled for his atrocious comments, he invoked the same victim card that he used in the video, where he meant that he was being targeted because he was a Muslim. Is there no end to your shamelessness, Mr. Naseeruddin Shah?

Also, we have some hard questions for this hypocrite of an actor, who wishes to shove his arbitrary thoughts down our throats. When he was advocating for mercy to terror accomplice Yakub Memon, whose silence on the Black Friday blasts plot cost him, dear, was he not spreading ‘poison in the Indian society’ by legitimizing the deeds of a dreaded terrorist?

When he trolled the people for demanding a ban on the Pakistani artistes following the Uri attack, was he not undermining and mocking the sacrifices of those 19 Bravehearts, who had died for no fault of theirs? The actor for long has played the victim card and tried to malign the present government.

Interestingly, Naseeruddin Shah is the same person who denounced the ideology of the terrorists and the religion which sponsors their dastardly activities, as shown in the memorable film ‘A Wednesday’? Was his long ranting mere rhetoric? If yes, then Naseeruddin Shah supersedes almost all the left-liberals of his league when it comes to showing the hypocrisy of the worst order. We haven’t forgotten the way you insulted Virat Kohli for his aggressive behavior during the Australia tour.
