As per the latest reports, a man who rammed his car into the residence of National Conference president Farooq Abdullah in Jammu on Saturday morning, was shot dead. The deceased person travelling in a car broke the security barricade and tried entering the Bhatindi residence of Abdullah at around 10:26 AM. According to witnesses, the man kept driving his car until he reached the inner lawns, got down from his vehicle and entered into the main lobby. He was shot dead near the staircase leading to the bedrooms of the house. Abdullah was reportedly away in the national capital for the ongoing Monsoon Session of the Parliament.
Police stated that the deceased individual has been identified as Murad Ali Shah, a 26 year old youth who’s father runs a gun shop at Bantalab in Jammu. The family hails from the border area of Mendhar and was settled in Jammu for some years. One cannot help but question why the youth was killed when Abdullah himself was away and there was no danger to his life. A mistake may have been committed by a misguided youngster but how can we justify the killing of a youngster just because he entered the house of an influential politician who was not even staying there? It was further reported that a case has been registered and efforts were on to trace his father.
Farooq’s son, Omar Abdullah also took a very heartless view of the entire incident. He only gave a brief account of the entire incident in his tweet and stated that he was waiting for further details but did not express grief about how the life of a Kashmiri youth was unnecessarily lost. It seems that he has not at all been affected by the loss of life and is more concerned about the security breach.

This exposes outright hypocrisy on the part of former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister, Farooq Abdullah. Today, a man has been killed merely for entering his house but it is the same Farooq Abdullah who expects Indian army to show restraint when encountered with a hostile crowd of stone pelters. Not only this, he has even advocated holding talks with terrorists and militants and stated, “How much can the army defend us; even if the entire army of India came to our rescue, they cannot defend us against terrorists or militants. The only way left is to hold dialogue and find a solution.” He has even pressed for peace talks with the terrorist neighbour Pakistan even as Pakistan continues exporting terror to India. Unfazed by the hostile attitude of Pakistan, Abdullah has been constantly pressurising the Indian government to appease the Pakistanis. Abdullah has also been caught questioning and criticising the Army chief over all these issues clearly reflecting his desperation for India to approach its enemies and hold peace talks with them.
A pertinent question that arises here is that when Farooq Abdullah expects India to be so large-hearted as to forgive all its enemies and even hold peace dialogues with them, then what was the need of killing an innocent youth who entered his house? He could have been detained and questioned for breaching the security cover. This goes on to show open hypocrisy on the part of Abdullah. While he preaches something for India, he practices something else for himself.
