The National Register of Citizens (NRC) released by the Assam government has shown 2.89 crore of the total 3.29 crore population of the state to be eligible for inclusion in the NRC. There is still a chance for the people whose names have not been included in the final draft to raise their claims and objections as per the state NRC Coordinator. This draft too has meanwhile heated up the situation in Assam, where the state government had beefed up the security in advance. The reason for updating and publishing the NRC was to separate authentic Indian citizens from the illegal immigrants.
However, since the second draft has come out, a huge misinformation is being fueled by the Pakistani intelligence agency, Inter-State Intelligence (ISI). Some NGOs, people and politicians are spreading rumors that the whole NRC exercise is against a “particular community”. Assam CM Sonowal’s efforts to weed out illegal immigrants from genuine citizens are not based on religion, but on origin. And the people who are indulged in spreading such rumors might have their own vested political interests and are directly or indirectly acting as a puppet of the ISI.
West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee opposed the move as well and went on to ask the illegal immigrants to settle in her state. She also stated that, “The NRC is being done with a political motive. We will not let this happen. They (BJP) are trying to divide the people. The situation cannot be tolerated. There will be a civil war, bloodbath in the country.” She also alleged that it was a plan by the state government to rid Assam of the Bengali and Bihari migrants from India. Mamata as disillusioned she is also announced a trip to Assam to take stock of the displaced people when the plan of action is finalized. It was not a shocking statement from Mamata who is known to have a bias attitude towards the Islamic population which serve as her vote bank in the state. Her dirty political tactics are eating away Bengal from within, and by her statement it is proved that she does not want other states like Assam to progress either.
There are several other NGOs who are running campaigns demanding Indian government to grant Indian citizenship to illegal immigrants. They have been petitioning the United Nations, the United States, the European Union and other consequential entities to stop work on the NRC, arguing that it is intended to “send Muslims to prison camps for life” and to create conditions for “mass murder, genocide, mass rape” and other human rights violations. These NGOs are leaving no stone unturned to tarnish the image of India.
Madhav Nalapat writes in Sunday Guardian Live, “Around 6 million more individuals in Bangladesh and Myanmar have been identified by the ISI as being “suitable for early entry to India” in view of their dedication to Wahhabism. Among these, the Pakistan army expects to recruit large numbers of extremists in order to intensify their covert campaign to ensure through riots, chaos and terrorism so that India does not ever take off into a high growth trajectory, but follows Pakistan in becoming a divided society”. Pakistani’s intelligence agency wants to push more and more number of illegal immigrants into India in order to change its demography. Once the demography would be changed, the ISI would exploit it to fuel secession movements in India. This is one of the main reasons why puppets of ISI in media is targeting Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal. ISI in fact fueled a campaign where a morphed image of a girl has been used to build a fake narrative that minorities are unsafe under Sonowal’s rule. Such fake news is being circulated to give rise to violence, mayhem and chaos in Assam as a consequence of which under international pressure government would order Assam to scrap NRC and allow the continuation of the flood of illegal Bangladeshi immigrants and Rohingyas.
Many people who are campaigning against the NRC are unaware of ISI’s involvement. In this they are directly or indirectly acting as the puppet of ISI. NRC exercise is for the betterment of India and its citizens and especially for the people of North Eastern states. The difficulties faced by the people of the North-eastern states due to the influx of a large number of Bangladeshis include, the loss of employment and business opportunities. These accompanied with the destruction of the natural beauty, balance of the society and local culture due to the ever increasing burden of illegal Bangladeshis. It’s good to see that now we finally have a government which is dedicated to protect the interests of the country and the people who are against it should co-operate with the government to flush out the illegal immigrants for the betterment of India.
