Muslim fundamentalist and hardliner, Asaduddin Owaisi has yet again given a controversial statement aimed at intimidating Hindus. The AIMIM chief was addressing a rally in Hyderabad where he mentioned the Gurugram incident in which the beard of a Muslim man was allegedly shaved following an altercation. Owaisi threatened that, “Muslim man’s beard was shaved off. Those who did it, I am telling them & their fathers, even if you slit our throat, we’ll be Muslims. We’ll convert you to Islam & will make you keep the beard.” Even though he was talking in light of this incident it is highly condemnable and unfortunate how a politician is openly threatening to convert Hindus to Islam and force them into growing beards.
As per news reports, an incident of altercation involving a Muslim man came up in Gurugram a few days ago and it was alleged that the Muslim man, Zaffrudin was taken to a salon where his beard was shaved off. The police have also arrested three accused in the case and investigations are going on. It does not make any sense on the part of a politician and a member of the Parliament to comment upon a matter which is already pending with the police. However, as soon as Owaisi saw an opportunity to appease his vote bank he made sure that he does not miss it.
In the same speech Owaisi gave yet another equally condemnable, unfortunate and controversial remark while talking about Rahul Gandhi’s unnecessary hug. He first took a dig at Rahul Gandhi and stated that, “A No-Confidence Motion was moved against Mr Modi and they (Rahul Gandhi) hugged the same person against whom they moved the motion. If I had gone and shaken hands with Mr Modi, a fatwa would have been issued against me. But when he (Rahul Gandhi) hugged Mr Modi, Congressmen didn’t utter a word.” He also made a misleading comparison with Jews and Hitler and said that, “before Hitler sent 10-20 lakh Jews to concentration camps, many Jews embraced him. Despite that, the Jews were killed in gas chambers. So Congress should drop the charade.” It has been the ploy of the entire “secular” brigade to compare prime minister Modi unnecessarily with Hitler in order to tarnish his image. However, Owaisi exceeded all limits when he spoke about the hug in a vulgar and perverted manner. He went on to say that, “As both of them (Rahul Gandhi and prime minister Modi) do not have anyone to hug in their homes, they go around hugging people outside. From Turkey’s Erdogan to Abu Dhabi’s ruler, Modi hugs everyone on foreign tours. That is why marriage is so important.” This crass comment reflects that Owaisi is a classless leader who cannot think beyond narrow channels of appeasement and unsavoury comments about a national leader like prime minister Modi who is way above him in all walks of life.
This is not for the first time that Owaisi has made such appeasing comments and blatantly threatened Hindus. In fact, he has become synonymous with Islamic appeasement. He epitomises the truest form of Indian secularism in which you remain secular only if you spew venom against Hindus. Over a period of time he has shown that no matter what he will somehow narrow down everything to Muslim rights. His comments during demonetisation and the entire triple talaq debate stand testimony to this fact. In fact, he is a modern day Jinnah who shamelessly calls himself secular. It is a pity that an elected member of the legislature can make such comments and get away with it.
