In a shocking move, Delhi AAP MLA from Greater Kailash, Saurabh Bhardwaj has tweeted and admitted that Botswana opposition party president had met him and AAP had assured him that it will prove the vulnerability of the Indian EVMs in the highest court of Botswana. With this it has become clear that AAP can go to any extent in order to pursue its malicious agenda of blaming EVMs for its electoral failures. In order to give effect to its ulterior motives, the AAP is ready to malign the image of India and its democracy before other countries.

The Botswana government had requested the Election Commission of India to give a demonstration and depose in favor of the EVMs in its court. The Election Commission, however, could not entertain this request given that the crucial 2019 polls are around the corner. The Election Commission, therefore, declined to entertain any such request until the constitutional body is fully prepared for the Lok Sabha elections to be held next year and the 12-lakh EVMs required for the polls is in its custody. Thus, the Election Commission pulled out of any immediate commitments. The Election Commission communicated this decision to the Botswana Independent Electoral Commission which has been in talks with the Election Commission for the past six months. A senior Election Commission official however stated that , “Once our EVMs are ready, we can consider Botswana’s request and ask manufacturers to design a new and different EVM for their elections. We have earlier helped Nepal and Nigeria too.” Thus, it was amply clear that Election Commission is fully confident about the Voting Machines but it was only because of the urgent situation created by the upcoming polls that the constitutional body was compelled to decline the request made by the Botswana government.
It seems that realizing that the Election Commission is not in a position to demonstrate the working of EVMs before the Botswana court in view of the Lok Sabha polls next year, the Kejriwal led AAP decided to capitalize on the situation. It found an opportunity to internationalize its vicious propaganda against the Indian EVMs. It seems that the AAP chose the same Saurabh Bhardwaj for leading the EVM charge who had previously given a laughable and staged demonstration of EVM hacking. In May itself, Saurabh Bhardwaj went about influencing Botswana political leaders into believing that the EVMs are prone/ vulnerable to manipulations and that they can be hacked. And now they are ready to put India’s reputation as the world’s biggest democracy on stake by deposing against the EVMs used for elections in India, thereby casting aspersions on the Election Commission of India and the entire electoral process in India.
One wonders what the AAP will tell the highest court of Botswana about the EVMs when it won 67 out of the 70 Delhi assembly seats after voting took place on the same machines which they are now labeling as fake. Did the AAP play a fraud upon the people of Delhi and secure the mammoth victory only by manipulating the EVMs? When, for a brief period, the AAP saw a rise in electoral success everything was fine with the EVMs but as soon as the AAP was being snubbed by the electorate, EVMs became faulty and fake. AAP has crossed all limits and has yet again showed that it can go to any extent in order to pursue its agenda and propaganda even if it means maligning the democratic and electoral process of India.
