On Sunday, PM Modi concluded his two-day visit to Eastern Uttar Pradesh. Last night, PM Modi, reviewed the ongoing developmental projects in the holy city of Varanasi which is also his parliamentary constituency. He also visited Banaras Hindu University (BHU) and offered prayers at Vishwanath Temple in the BHU premise.
PM Modi launched a number of projects worth Rs. 1,000 crore in Varanasi. According to the Indian Express report, some of the projects include Panchkoshi Parikrama Marg worth Rs 97 crore, revival of 26 ghats worth Rs 10 crore, widening and beautification of link road between Bhikhipur crossing and Amra crossing worth Rs 29 crore, construction of “Kanha Upvan” under Smart City project worth Rs 10 crore and many more.
Since, PM Modi became MP from Varanasi constituency there has been a lot of development work taking place in the parliamentary constituency of PM Modi. Electricity supply has improved a lot. Varanasi’s overhead cables are thing of past now. Ghats of Varanasi got a new life, their conditions are now better. The ghats are now cleaner and attract more visitors. PM Modi himself participated in cleanliness drive at Jagannath Gali near Assi Ghat. Special focus has been laid on cleanliness. Places for sanitation and public bathrooms have been constructed. Infrastructure has got a major boost be it roads, railway or airport. Construction and widening of the main roads connecting Varanasi is being carried with an expense of Rs. 8014.57 crores. From this amount, Rs. 7000 crores is being spent on the widening of national highways connecting Varanasi to Sultanpur, Azamgarh, Gorakhpur, Aurangabad and other nearby cities which includes many new flyovers, bridges and bypasses to be constructed. New and proper bus stops have been also constructed in Varanasi. The air services and facilities for travellers have been improved at the Babatpur airport. Modernization of Manduadih Railway station is an evidence of this. Manduadih is no less than a smart railway station with all the modern facilities. Modernization of Varanasi Cantt Railway is also in full progress. Special trains like Mahamana express and Palace on wheels also started from Varanasi. In Varanasi PM Modi also laid the foundation stone of the cancer research institute and has already inaugurated the Trauma centre. All these developmental works are not just benefiting Varanasi but also the neighboring districts of Eastern Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. Varanasi has become a centre of attraction nationally as well as internationally. Varanasi is going through a new transformation. On Saturday, UP CM, Yogi Adityanath released the book ‘Meri Kashi’ in the presence of PM Modi. The book has all the information about the developmental works done in Varanasi since 2014.
In his two-day visit to eastern UP, PM Modi also addressed a rally in Azamgarh and there he laid the foundation for the 340 KM Purvanchal Expressway which would be built at the cost of over 23,000 crore. On Sunday, PM Modi visited Mirzapur, there he addressed a public meeting after inaugurating the Bansagar Canal Project and he also laid the foundation stone of Mirzapur Medical College. In his address during the public meeting PM Modi said that it was only after the BJP came to power that old projects saw movement. He said, “You must ask those shedding crocodile tears for farmers these days, why during their regimes they did not notice these incomplete irrigation projects across the country.” Though he did not name any party but it was quite clear that he was referring to the Congress.
The BJP government has given special attention to the development of Uttar Pradesh and is giving its best to make Uttar Pradesh into Uttam Pradesh.
