A BJP leader of Jammu has strongly responded to former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti’s threat to create more terrorists like Salahuddin in Kashmir. BJP Mahila Morcha’s district president Veena Gupta challenged Mehbooba Mufti to execute her threat, saying, “If you create one Salahuddin, we will send ten Bhagat Singhs from Jammu.” The BJP workers also burned effigy of Mehbooba Mufti. Veena Gupta also advised Mufti to protect her house of cards from falling. The BJP district President Ayudhya Nath demanded that the state governor NN Vohra take action against the former Chief Minister for threatening to create terrorists like Salahuddin.
Former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir and Peoples Democratic Party leader had warned the Bharatiya Janata Party led centre on Friday that if centre tries to break PDP, it would create more Salahuddins and Yasin Maliks. This was a veiled threat by Mufti aimed towards the BJP. The PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti, as reported by news agency ANI, issued this statement as rumours surrounding the defections from her own party cadres are on the rise. The BJP government had pulled support from the Jammu and Kashmir government after Eid, which led to fall of the Mehbooba Mufti led government and imposition of Governor’s rule in the state. Rumours about dissatisfied party MLAs from PDP willing to lend support to the BJP to form government in the state had been on the rise ever since. Some statements too have been issued by MLAs and leaders from the PDP which show there is a growing dissatisfaction between Mufti and her party members which could lead to a split in the PDP. Mufti instead of pacifying her own leaders had decided to lay all the blame on the BJP. Her statement, “If Delhi tries to break the PDP the results will be exceedingly dangerous”, is an indication of how disillusioned and frightened the PDP chief currently is.
Mehbooba Mufti definitely crossed the line while trying to warn BJP when she said, “If, like in 1987, Delhi hijacks the vote of this state’s people, if this kind of breakup of loyalties is attempted, the manner in which a Salahuddin (or) a Yasin Malik came to the fore will (happen again)… if those in Delhi try to break up the PDP, let there be no doubt the result of that will be exceedingly dangerous.”
This statement shows the desperation of Mehbooba Mufti who is trying all that she can to save her relevance in the political scenario of the state. Syed Salahuddin, the head of Hizbul Mujahideen and Yasin Malik the head of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front are known terrorists from the Kashmir valley who have the bloods of many innocent people and security forces on their hands. By taking their names, Mufti somehow wants to instil fear in the minds of BJP and her own party MLAs. She does not yet realize that this statement will be a political blunder for her and will further distance the already disgruntled constituents and her own leaders. The BJP responded strongly to her anti-national stand. It is clear that the BJP is not going to surrender in front of anti-India forces. The terrorists and their political patrons will be answered in their own language. Her statement is going to haunt her in future as well. The people of the Kashmir are the worst victims of terrorism and by giving threat about creating more terrorist she has only added insult to the injuries of civilians. She has committed a disgraceful offence by trying to justify terrorists and their actions, something which the people of the state will remember in the days ahead. And she should also keep in mind that the BJP is a nationalist party which will strongly crush the anti-National forces each and every time.
