As per recent reports, Saif Ali Khan has been served a legal notice by Interpol. The notice has been served on the basis of allegations of wild boar hunting in Bulgaria. As per an order by the Bulgarian government, Interpol has been directed to record Saif’s statement in the matter.
Times Now has reported that an agent had organised a wild boar hunting for the actor without requisite permission and licenses. However, Bulgarian laws require foreigners to hold a hunting license issued by their own country. Now, the Bulgarian police are treating Saif Ali Khan as a witness to the entire case.
As per a report by the Indian Express, the actor’s agent has been booked in the hunting case. The notice issued by the Interpol has been executed by the Mumbai crime branch which has recorded the statement of the actor. However, it is not clear whether the statement recorded by the crime branch has been forwarded to the CBI, which is the nodal agency in India for the Interpol.
This is not for the first time that Saif Ali Khan has been associated with a hunting case. He had also been accused in the 1998 blackbuck poaching case in which Salman Khan has recently been sentenced to five years imprisonment. However, Saif Ali Khan and other co-accused were acquitted for lack of evidence. The Bishnoi community which was instrumental in the course of trial had resolved in the past that it will appeal even against those acquitted in the case. The accused had been booked under Section 9 of The Indian Wildlife (Protection) Act.
This case is a high profile one involving a famous Bollywood actor. It also casts serious aspersions on the actor’s conduct who has been involved in a similar controversy in the past also. It immediately seems suspicious how Saif’s agent tried to organise an illegal hunt for him without taking the requisite licenses and permits for the same. As of now, the Bulgarian police are treating the Bollywood actor only as a witness to the case. But there is every chance of more details emerging out of this case even as the investigations go ahead.
Ideally, the mainstream media outlets should have covered this story extensively. Mainstream media and news traders have been acting in the most stupid and unprofessional manner while covering illogical and useless stories around Taimur, Saif Ali Khan’s son. He had been media’s favorite issue for quite some time now. A section of media outlets have been going head over heels over Taimur’s ‘cuteness’. The media has been acting in the most bizarre manner about Taimur’s holidays, his photographs with his families and similar senseless stories. His expressions which are natural to any kid or infant have been taken to be more important than major national issues. One, therefore, fails to understand why the media is not covering the story around Taimur’s father with similar enthusiasm. It is beyond comprehension why the media is taking such a serious and high-profile matter in a very light manner.
