The latest episode of Priyanka Chopra starrer overrated crime drama ‘Quantico’ received a lot of flak on social media for one of its controversial episode. The episode portrayed Hindus and Indian nationalist as terrorists who are planning to blow up New York’s Manhattan with a nuclear attack and framed Pakistanis as the one who are behind the terrorist attack. Priyanka Chopra in this particular episode of Quantico, reveals the religious identity of the terrorist after discovering the rudraksha on the body of the terrorist. In Hinduism rudraksha is a symbol of peace and knowledge. This episode irked the Indian viewers of the show, they displayed their disappointment against this distasteful episode on social media and threatened to boycott the shows aired on ABC and the products endorsed by Priyanka Chopra.
After receiving a lot of online backlash for the portrayal of Indians and Hindus as terrorist, finally on Friday U.S television studio ABC has apologized. ABC, in its statement, said, “The show has featured antagonists of many different ethnicity and backgrounds, but in this case we inadvertently and regrettably stepped into a complex political issue. It was certainly not our intention to offend anyone”. The statement further reads, “The episode has stirred a lot of emotion, much of which is unfairly aimed at Priyanka Chopra, who didn’t create the show, nor does she write or direct it”.
More than an apology statement, it looks like an attempt to save Priyanka Chopra who received virulent criticism for being the lead part in his outlandish and outrageous episode to defame India. The episode did not just malign the Hindus and Indians but it also created sympathy for a terrorist country like Pakistan. One should not forget that Indians and Hindus have always been the victim of terror of Pakistan. Silent genocide of Hindus has been going on since 1947. But no one talks about it, as if life of Hindus are not important as compared to life of Muslims of Palestine and Myanmar. Pakistan has carried out a number of terrorist attacks in India and has also been indulged in proxy war to make India bleed. In Kashmir, Pakistani sponsored terrorist creates mayhem almost every day. Pakistan is an anti-India country and it’s not a hidden secret and despite that Priyanka Chopra decided to make an episode showing Pakistani as innocent and Indians and Hindus as aggressors. She disappointed her country and the plot featured in the episode is not just a blatant lie but also a distortion of reality.
Hindu Scholar based in United States, David Frawley also raised objection against the episode. He took to Twitter and asked, ” The myth of Hindu terror, by a fake story, enters American television with the help of Priyanka Chopra. Would any Pakistani actress betray Pakistan or Islam the way she betrays India and Hinduism?”

Despite doing so much of damage to the image of her country there has been no official statement and apology from her side. People want to know her thoughts on this entire incident whether she objected shooting it or not. ABC’s apology is useless unless Priyanka Chopra personally apologizes for Quantico’s shameful attempt to perpetuate the myth of Hindu terror. She has bigger responsibility towards her country than the ABC.
Once again, the world has seen the power of social media and peaceful protest. It has scared even a big company like Walt Disney who apologized for their shameful act.
