Nitin Gadkari is one of the most efficient ministers in the Prime Minister Narendra Modi led government today. Working as Minister of Road Transport and Highways, he has been continuously doing marvellous work of developing road networks around the country. He also holds the office of Minister of Water Resources and Minister of River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation plan along with the Ministry of Shipping. With the BJP led NDA government entering its fifth year of its term at the centre, Nitin Gadkari has promised to finish off majority of the projects lying under his ministry.
Union Minister Nitin Gadkari was presiding over a two-day review meeting held in Goa for the projects which are worth more than Rs 100 crore. Out of 427 projects of National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and 311 projects of the ministry which were reviewed, 127 by the former and 153 by the latter have their deadlines in June next year. Nitin Gadkari asked for early completion of all the projects before the due date by March 2019. He told the reporters, “Before the election commission imposes the electoral code of conduct, I want all the projects with June deadline to be completed by March 2019.” The official statement of the ministry also backs up his claim, “The year 2018 has been declared as a ‘construction year’ by the ministry. Out of over 700 projects being reviewed, about 300 projects will be identified for completion before March 2019.”
Not content with just pushing the works in the road and highway department, Nitin Gadkari has also promised that 80% of the river Ganga will be cleaned by March 2019. He also mentioned that the cleaning of Ganga is at a very advanced stage. Numerous schemes have been implemented under the National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG) by Gadkari to ensure the revival of Ganga. The Ministry recently signed an agreement with Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) for reusing 2 crore litres/day treated water by Indian Oil refinery in Mathura. The agreement was signed by Union Minister for Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation, Nitin Gadkari. He also gave a statement after signing the agreement, his statement read, “I am saying this with full responsibility that the holy river will revive its pristine glory as 80 per cent of the Ganga river would be cleaned by the end of this fiscal year”.
His ministry is also making plans to make it mandatory for those projects of National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) which are located alongside Ganga to use treated Ganga water for power plants. The ministry has also identified eighteen new towns on Yamuna and other tributaries of the Ganga for pollution abatement.
All these steps collectively prove that Nitin Gadkari is working with gusto to ensure that the promises made by the Ministry and the BJP government can be fulfilled prior to the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. Both these tasks will be difficult to accomplish considering the length and enormity of the tasks in question. The number of contributors to both the tasks further enhances the challenges as co-ordination will prove to be difficult. Nitin Gadkari is the right man for the job as he can make sure that the road networks and the rivers in India will become better with time. His brilliance has already been showcased a great number of times and his commitment is a sure sign that things are definitely going to improve in the times to come.
