In a shocking incident, a man was arrested from Jodhpur Rural Piparcity area for allegedly sacrificing his four year old daughter to receive blessings of Allah during Ramzan. The accused, Nawab Ali, had carried out the gruesome act in his own house and had locked himself in. The man had come under suspicion from his neighbours as his house had remained locked from the inside. The body of the 4 year old minor girl was found with its throat slit.
Nawab Ali admitted to having killed his own daughter in order to appease ‘Allah’ during the ongoing holy month of Ramzan. The cruelty of Nawab Ali knew no bounds as he went ahead with the plans for sacrificing his daughter in the holiest month for Muslims around the globe. He had earlier taken his minor daughter to the market where he had purchased sweets and other things for her. Upon returning from the market, he along with his wife and one other daughter slept on the roof of the house. At about midnight, he carried his eldest daughter, who was just four year old, to the ground floor, where he sat her on his lap and performed a ritual before he slit her throat. After committing the vile act, he went back to his other family members and slept throughout the night.
Upon waking up, he joined his wife in searching for their eldest daughter whose body lay on the ground floor. When they found the body, he tried to convince his wife that the daughter might have been killed by a cat. The minor girl was declared brought dead at the hospital on Friday morning. The police team upon reaching the house found that the door of the house had remained locked from inside. Their suspicion was directed towards Nawab Ali, the father himself. Nawab Ali broke down upon questioning and confessed to the killing his own daughter. Superintendent of Police (Jodhpur Rural), Rajan Dushyant, confirmed that Nawab Ali had indeed admitted to carrying out this vile act under the pretext of religion. He also added that a dog squad and Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team had also been sent to the house for detailed investigation.
This disgusting act somehow failed to make it to the prime-time national debates held on media channels. It failed to evoke any kind of response from the educated liberals who usually reserve a monopoly over deciding the vileness of any given act in the country. This is exactly why we need tough laws to deal with crimes against minors which keep taking place all around the country. Harsh laws which can bring to justice anyone irrespective of his religion need to be implemented immediately. Acts like these disgust and threaten everyone who values the constitution. It shows that some people place their religion way above the constitution. Tough laws and harsh punishments will ensure that such people, irrespective of their religion, are punished in the most exemplary fashion and their punishment will set a precedent for potential criminals. Muslim or Hindu whichever religion such criminals might belong to, these acts threaten the social harmony. The media channels which have shied away from reporting this incident just because it happened in a household from the minority community should be ashamed for not calling a spade a spade. Illiteracy and religious fanaticism have succeeded in driving a father to commit this vile act in the holiest month for his religion. This cannot be left to go unpunished and the act needs to be widely condemned and used as a lesson for the future
