In a sting operation conducted by the Times Now, shocking details of the Janta Dal (Secular) deliberately denying Muslims cabinet berths have emerged. As confessed by JDS insiders, Muslims have been intentionally kept away from key portfolios. They further stated that the Gowdas were angry with the Muslims because they did not vote for the JDS according to expectations. As per a JDS poll audit, meager Muslim support in some of the constituencies cost the Gowdas led party dearly. Therefore, in a fit of rage and sentiment of vengeance, the “secular” party has decided to keep Muslims away from the state cabinet. Muslims negotiating for a cabinet berth were spurned by the JDS.

According to an insider who has been caught making this confession, it is clear that JDS is at loggerheads with the Muslims. He stated that the defeated MLAs were complaining about a shortfall of votes in Muslim booths everywhere including Ramnagar. He made it clear that there were discussions going on within the JDS about the issue of Muslims not voting in large numbers for the JDS. This led to resentment within the JDS against the community. This confirms the worst fears of a political outfit turning against a particular community and settling scores after polls by denying legitimate representation.

It is contemptible how the JDS is murdering democracy and shunning communities that did not vote for it by awarding cabinet berths according to voting patterns. The party insider caught in the sting operation has confirmed how cabinet berths are being allocated on the basis of caste equations. This has exposed the brand of secularism practised by the JDS which believes in punishing communities that do not meet its electoral expectations. During the elections both the “secular” parties, Congress and the JDS, had used Muslims extensively as political tools for spewing venom against the BJP and indulged in communal polarisation during the elections. However, once the polls were over, the party has blatantly betrayed the Muslims. They have been betrayed for exercising their constitutional right of franchise in a free and fair manner. JDS is a Muslim-loving party only if the Muslims help it in winning elections. Otherwise, the party does not care for them. In fact, JDS despises Muslims if they don’t vote for the family-owned party.
The Congress, on its part, has a lot to answer for. It has been posturing as an all weather friend of the Muslims forever. However, this time around, its ally has betrayed the Muslims and the Congress seems to be least bothered by it. At the time of entering into an unholy alliance with the Gowdas, Congress leaders were justifying the anti-mandate alliance in the name of democracy. However, one fails to comprehend how deliberately denying representation to a particular community in the coalition government supports the idea of democracy. During the election campaign, Congress heavyweight, Ghulam Nabi Azad had communally incited the Muslims to vote for the Congress in blatant disregard of the constitutional and secular values. In an open attempt to polarise the Muslim community in Karnataka, Azad had then stated that bringing Congress to power would be a gratitude to Muslims. Congress now seems to be paying gratitude to the Muslim community by forcing them out of the state cabinet.
This condemnable attempt by the JDS-Congress coalition to communalise allocation of key portfolios should be taken as an open threat to the Muslims living in India before the 2019 general elections. The message is clear, on the part, of the entire secular cabal. They have made it clear that the Muslim community will be entitled to the support of the “secular” parties only if they vote for these parties. Otherwise, the Muslim community will be treated as second class citizens by the secular forces and will be denied representation at major decision and policy-making platforms.
