As soon as Congress government came back to powerin Karnataka, good days for criminals and corrupts have also arrived. Mohammed Haris Nalapad, son of Congress MLA who mercilessly and brutally assaulted a 24 year old boy at a cafe in Bengaluru is out again on conditional bail immediately after the return of Congress to power.
Mohammed Haris Nalapad assaulted Vidvat a 24 years old youth who was dining with his friend. Nalapad and his gang objected to the way Vidvath was sitting with his fractured leg. An altercation broke out after Vidvat expressed his inability to move away his fractured leg which led to irked arrogant Nalapad and his gang so much that it almost cost Vidvat his life. His bandaged leg was such an unbearable obscenity to Mohammed Nalapad that he and his gang assaulted him with bottles, jars and brass knuckles. It is anybody’s guess as to why an MLA’s son and his goon gang would carry brass knuckles to dine at a hotel unless they are habitual offenders used to terrorizing people. After thrashing him in the hotel they assaulted Vidvat yet again in the basement a second time only to follow him to Mallya hospital too where they allegedly assaulted and threatened him against filing any complaint.
According to the charge sheet filed by Central Crime Branch (CCB), Nalapad threatened Vidvat to kill him. Nalapad said, “I am a son of local MLA NA Haris. You are not even equal to my shoe. You say sorry and kiss my feet. If you don’t say ‘sorry’, then I will kill you here only.” The attack on Vidvat was so severe that several of the café staff and bouncers along with some of Vidvat’s friends had to intervene to save his life.
Charges against Nalapad include section 307 of the Indian Penal Code (attempt to murder), sections 341 (wrongful restraint), 506 (criminal intimidation), 143 and 144 (unlawful assembly), 146 and 147 (rioting), 326 (voluntarily causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapons) and 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace). Nalapad was holding the post of Bengaluru Youth Congress President and the party at the time of the incident.
Nalapad’s father, Nalapad Ahmed Haris is an MLA from the Shanthinagar constituency of Karnataka. He is a businessman who joined the Congress party and has won two consecutive elections from the Shanthinagar constituency. Even in the recently held Karnataka assembly elections of 2018, there were accusations of cash being distributed by his men. His meteoric rise in terms of power had occurred allegedly due to his close connections with Congress leaders from Karnataka.
This incident, which happened in February, did not deter Congress’ decision of giving a ticket to MLA N.A. Haris. Corruption and abuse of power are the least of things which matter to Congress anyways. Many leaders from Congress and their family members have had a tainted background. Nalapad Haris’s case is no different. There is nothing new in Congress leaders having tainted backgrounds. The Congress often encourages this type of activity by giving tickets to such people. The case of Nalapad Haris is an example of how abuse of power is done by popular leaders of the Congress. According to media reports, the government has decided not to challenge the bail. Instead they are going to exploit available resources to fight the trial. The conditional bail granted to Haris is an affront to justice.
This shows the seriousness of the incumbent government about how much they are dedicated to punishing the criminals. In fact, they are more interested in shielding the criminals. Now, Haris is out on bail and his victim, Vidvat, might never get the justice he is fighting for.
