West Bengal Chief Minister Mamta Banerjee’s fascism was on its full display in the recently concluded Bengal Panchayati elections marred with violence. Electoral machinery was completely hijacked and the democratic processes were subverted, the state witnessed a complete breakdown of constitutional machinery. The State Police was a mute spectator to all of this. The entire election process was nothing but a sham and a blot on the democratic principles enshrined in India’s constitution. Ballots were looted, candidates of other parties were not allowed to file nomination, election duty officer was murdered, ballot rigging, many BJP workers were killed.
Among the scores of BJP worker who were killed during the Bengal Panchayat elections, one murder of BJP worker was termed suicide by the West Bengal police. A 32 year old BJP worker, Dulal Kumar Mahato, was found hanging from an electricity pole in Dabha village of Purulia’s Balarampur, in an execution style public hanging. But the West Bengal police claimed that he committed suicide. The West Bengal police faced a lot of criticism for their absurd claim and were accused of making brainless statement on the orders of the state government.
But now, after calling it a suicide case, West Bengal police has apparently corrected their blunder and registered a murder case in the death of BJP worker Dulal Kumar Mahato. According to Times of India, the police registered a murder FIR on June 21 and named six persons as accused. The police have lodged cases under the IPC sections 302 (murder) and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention). According to Mahato’s brother Krishna, these six people had threatened his deceased brother for working with the BJP.
It seems that the visit and the rally of BJP President Amit Shah in Purulia have sent a shiver down the spine of ruling Trinamool Congress government of the state. Possibly, the TMC did not want Amit Shah to remind people of the kind of fascist and dictator government ruling in West Bengal. So, the suicide was silently converted into a case of murder days before his visit. Had the BJP President not visited, police would have whitewashed the case by declaring it a suicide. Despite the victim’s family providing details of the murder, the West Bengal police claimed that it was a suicide. This is the sad state of affairs of law and order in Bengal under the PM aspirant Mamata Banerjee’s rule where the innocent people are denied justice and they are butchered for not following an ideology of a particular political party. There are families of many other departed souls of Hindus and the BJP workers who are waiting for justice to be delivered.
Mamata Banerjee and her ambitions know no bounds. She wants to become the Prime Minister but cannot even manage her own thugs in the state. The law and order situation in West Bengal is deteriorating day by day and she is doing nothing to stop the violence directed at opposition party members. Her brand of accusatory politics is failing her when her own party leaders and workers are at fault. Mamata government is employing all sorts of measure to stop the rise of the BJP in Bengal which includes Illegal arrests, political murders and state sponsored violence. It seems, only illegal Bangladeshi immigrants are safe in West Bengal. She cannot even manage her state properly and she is dreaming to become the next PM of India.
