Another attempt to corner the incumbent NDA government led by PM Modi with respect to the Kathua rape case fell horribly flat when the opposition, backed by mainstream media and the ever thankless Bollywood, switched gears from allegedly fighting for the victim’s justice, to their ‘classic Hindu shaming mode.’ Further investigations, and the charge-sheet, which was made available to the public, exposed their dirty game.
To add to their woes, recent investigations on the murder of Junaid Khan, who was systematically used as a weapon to shame the Sanatan/Hindu community with the tag of beef lynching through the much laughable #NotinMyName campaign when it was clear that the victim was murdered over a mere seat dispute, exposed the media’s penchant of playing judge and jury. The Punjab & Haryana High Court severely criticized the media for jumping the gun while covering the news.
Not only that, the much notorious incident of ‘semen filled balloons’ allegedly thrown at girls of Delhi University was also busted when the forensics laboratory, trusted with the task of investigation, denied any trace of the alleged substance, revealing the sinister intentions of the media, who were out all guns blazing in insulting the festival of Holi, terming it as ‘a free license to rape and molest.’
For a change, the Hon. Supreme Court of India, who was accused of being biased towards the Sanatani community in its recent decisions, severely criticized the National Green Tribunal for their arbitrary and outrageous diktat against the chanting of mantras and jayakaras within or outside the premises of the holy Amarnath shrine. In a scathing judgment, the judges of the Supreme Court accused the NGT of ‘jumping the gun’ in their decision against the Amarnath shrine, nullifying the diktat with immediate effect.
But could this have been avoided? Surely, had the incumbent NDA government stayed strong like they did during the bold process of GST and demonetization of high value currency notes. Only a couple of weeks ago, the Minister of Information and Technology, Smriti Irani, had issued a circular, that anybody, who is found accused of peddling fake news, which could trigger chaos in any area, will not only be prosecuted, but also shall have his / her journalist accreditation by the Press Trust of India revoked.
The issue of the circular put the mainstream media in a tizzy, since their entire existence depended upon the circulation of fake news, mostly in the interest of their masters who have ruled India for more than six decades. All of them cried hoarse, shrieking ‘Emergency’ and ‘Return of Fascism’ forcing the PM to withdraw the press circular, though taking a care not to mess with the original order, which stands status quo : neither issued, but not withdrawn as well.
It was only after the PMO issued an order to withdraw the press circular that all hell broke loose. The alleged ‘victim’ of Unnao rape case attempted to commit suicide in front of the CM’s house at Lucknow and the subsequent death of the victim’s father under police custody led to a furor where the mainstream media had a field day, accusing the CM of shielding the criminal and declaring the failure of law and order in a state which saw a massive improvement under CM Yogi in the same area with increased arrests and encounters, apart from liberating many girls from shady dens and sex rackets.
Hardly had BJP got the time to retaliate, when another opinionated article posted by notorious journalist Barkha Dutt in ‘The Washington Post’ accused BJP leaders of standing in solidarity with the accused of the Kathua rape case and waving national flag in a rally for their support, chanting ‘Jai Shri Ram’.
The media lapped it up and created a huge hoax. What seemed initially as a fight for the justice, soon turned into name shaming and gross defamation of the Sanatani community, deriding temples as ‘rape centres’ and terming Hindustan as ‘Rapistan’. Any voice calling for a fair investigation, or even a CBI enquiry, was termed as ‘monstrous’ and ‘rapist supporting’. Some even feared the rise of the much talked about concept of ‘Hindu Rashtra.’
In such a scenario, had Smriti Irani issued the circular without caring for the consequences, such hate mongers and shameless liars wouldn’t have dared to peddle such fake news and cause chaos in the nation.
It is no rocket science to notice the deafening silence of the very people when the accused is not from Sanatani community but it is high time that some strict measure is taken against such lie peddlers and hate mongers whose sole aim is to see a broken India. The decision to curb fake news will set the screws tight on the wayward media and not bring back the dark days of emergency as the media and the intelligentsia want us to believe. It’s time to clean the mess. Time is not lost, dear NDA.
