It’s time for another episode of the ‘Great Indian elections’ where all eyes are fixed on the upcoming Karnataka legislative assembly elections to be held from 12 to 15 May 2018. Mostly in news for the alleged corruption, excessive minority appeasement as well as a blatant disregard for ethics and discipline as practiced under the supervision of the incumbent CM Siddaramaiah, Karnataka is now up for a BJP blitzkrieg from every corner possible.
The stakes are high for the ruling party, and as such, they’ve decided to leave no stone unturned in wresting the last major bastion from the hands of the once powerful Congress party currently reeling under the mental bankruptcy of the top brass of the same. None know this better than the powerful duo of PM Modi and his trusted aide, BJP President Amit Shah, who have agreed on an intensive campaign where PM Modi would address 25 rallies in important parts of Karnataka.
Given how his campaigns managed to win almost all the seats connected to his rallies in the previous year during the Gujarat elections, it wouldn’t be a surprise if the ‘Modi magic’ manages to wrest significant seats in this all important Karnataka elections.
But hardly had Congress party got the time to recover from their wounds inflicted by the double rejection of Judge Loya case and the impeachment motion, when BJP announced the induction of their trump card: CM of Uttar Pradesh, and star campaigner of BJP, CM Yogi Adityanath, in the campaign trail for the Karnataka elections and will address rallies from 3rd May onwards.
This will be a major boost for BJP given that Yogi’s ideology of assertive Hinduism has a significant presence in the state of Karnataka. CM Yogi is the head of the Gorakshnath peeth, an important institution of the Nath sect, traces of which can be found in the following communities residing in Karnataka:-
- Vokkaliga community [from which ex Congress stalwart S M Krishna also hails]
- Dalit community
- Nath and Lingayat community
This is extremely crucial, keeping in mind the blatant disregard the incumbent CM has for the Hindus. Be it his divisive AHINDA policy designed to divide the Hindu community for political benefits or giving wind to systemized attacks on right wing activists, there is no crime that Siddaramaiah is not accused of. As such, including CM Yogi in the Karnataka campaign would certainly give this man as well as the Congress a run for their money!
On the other hand, leaving aside the doctored accusations of shielding criminals in the medical case at BRD hospital in Gorakhpur and the Unnao rape case, CM Yogi Adityanath has been absolutely phenomenal with his performance both off and on the field. Only a couple of months ago, his brilliant campaigning in Tripura added an impressive 8 seats to the historic performance of 44 seats, when BJP formed a government in the state for the first time ever.
Besides, according to the news reports, CM Yogi Adityanath also has a good rapport with the Sri Adichunchanagiri Mahasamsthana Math in Karnataka’s Mandya district. So the CM Yogi blitzkrieg is enough to determine the difference between a victory and a landslide, as happened with his presence in UP and Tripura assembly elections.
The presence of CM Yogi Adityanath is enough to set the stage on fire during the Karnataka campaign trail. Thanks to the maladministration of Siddaramaiah, we can’t wait for the Yogi tsunami to strike sooner. The summer is coming.
