Uttarakhand CM Rawat exposes and humiliates The Wire

Left leaning news website ‘The Wire’ has often landed in troubles owing to its half-truth reporting style. Aiming to target the Bharatiya Janta Party and its allies at the Centre, Wire has quite often crossed the line between biased reporting to fake news. Wire has been shameless in peddling fake news with relation to BJP government leaders at the Centre and State levels. No matter the number of times it had to pull down its articles and apologise for its misreporting and factual inaccuracies, Wire is not ready to stop. The left-leaning website has no qualms about being the face of so called ‘independent’ & ‘liberal’ leftist leaders who are anti-development and even anti-India. A new name was recently added in the long list of the wrongly targeted personalities by The Wire, the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, Trivendra Singh Rawat.

CM Rawat, Bharatiya Janta Party leader, came to power in Uttarakhand on 18th March, 2017 after the BJP’s phenomenal win in the state.  BJP won 57 of the 70 seats, gaining 26 more seats than the previous state elections held in Uttarakhand. With massive trust shown in favour of the BJP, the responsibility to manage the state in the best possible way fell on BJP’s shoulder. Uttarakhand also known as “Dev Bhoomi” or the “Land of the Gods” is known for its many temples, caves and natural beauty which makes it a popular attraction for the tourists from India & abroad. Under the rule of CM Rawat, Uttarakhand state is the second fastest growing state in India, thanks to the increase in agricultural yield and boom in services and production sector.

From giving low-interest loans to farmers to the development of medical facilities in the state, CM Rawat has taken all the right decisions in making Uttarakhand a better place for the people of the state. His most recent and necessary initiative was when he instructed the Deputy Magistrates of Uttarakhand to ensure the availability of NCERT books all throughout the state in a bid to decrease the burden of parents who have to pay high prices in black markets  due to unavailability of the books in the market. This approach was lauded by the people of the state who thanked CM Rawat for his active contribution in reducing their burden and helping the education system in the state. But all this has never made it to the news websites of the left-liberals, least of all The Wire.

The Wire recently carried an article on its official Hindi website. The article came with a very catchy title and accused the BJP government of promoting the sale of liquor across the state. It accuses the state government of pushing the sale of liquor in the state to earn more and more of the excise taxes. It also indulges in twisting facts in order to showcase its point.

Having heard enough of the falsities and misleading statements being propagated by the media website, Chief Minister Rawat took to twitter in order to unmask the false accusations laid by The Wire. The CM’s tweet contained a link to the Wire’s hindi page as well a rebuttal to the facts quoted in the article. He made it clear that the Wire was bending facts and figures to suit their ends. He also mentions that the annual turnover limit had actually been 0 under the Congress’s rule, which had been increased to Rs. 50 lakhs by his government. The license fee which was earlier 2 lakhs for a period of 1 year had now been increased to 5 lakhs for 3 years.

— Trivendra Singh Rawat ( मोदी का परिवार) (@tsrawatbjp) April 8, 2018

Some other tweets from the official handle of CM Rawat also mention that these changes in the Excise policy of the state had been done to check the misuse of the FL-5 M/DS policy which was introduced by the Congress government in the state in 2014.

— Trivendra Singh Rawat ( मोदी का परिवार) (@tsrawatbjp) April 7, 2018

One other tweet also mentions that the rules for issuing a license had become more stringent under his rule by putting the condition that only the shops having annual turnover of more than 50 lakhs would be allowed to apply for a license.

— Trivendra Singh Rawat ( मोदी का परिवार) (@tsrawatbjp) April 7, 2018

All these facts were overlooked by the Wire before it chose to open attacks on a government which is leaving no stone unturned to promote the welfare of its state. These baseless accusations and their timely & effective rebuttal by the CM have further exposed the hidden agendas of the left leaning intellectuals and their news websites such as “The Wire”.
