Cricketing Legend, and Bharat Ratan awardee Sachin Tendulkar, who also happens to be the Rajya Sabha MP of the Congress party, was caught on an unusual pitch inside the Rajya Sabha. The pitch of politics has never suited the batsman who could hit pace-bombs from menacing bowlers like Donald, Ambrose and Akhtar out of the ground with unmatched ease! The calm and composed Sachin Tendulkar, who could easily snub the infamous Australian sledging in the 90s is not accustomed to Rajya Sabha like sledging at all.
Tendulkar has been at the Center of Debate for his non-appearance in the Parliament; but let bygones be bygones, yesterday Sachin Tendulkar was to make a debut in the Rajya Sabha as a speaker but he could not utter a single word because of the din raised by Congress MPs .
Sachin Tendulkar’s speech was to be about Sports, its facilities and its future in India. But, when he tried to speak, Congress MPs resorted to shouting and yelling inside the house. Led by Anand Sharma, the leader of the Congress in the House, Congress MPs disrupted the proceedings of the House, and Sachin Tendulkar’s even after a number of attempts did not get a chance to speak. Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the election campaign in Gujarat, had accused the Congress of hobnobbing with Pakistan, Congress wanted PM Modi to apologize for it.

Master blaster Sachin Tendulkar can be seen standing all confused and even embarrassed in the Rajya Sabha. Even after repeated requests of Rajya Sabha Speaker Venkaiah Naidu, Congress MPs did not stop shouting, Naidu said that disrespecting a respected sportsman and Bharat Ratna awardee like Sachin Tendulkar, is not a good thing to and reflects poorly upon the members of the house. Naidu also mentioned that he is here to talk about an important topic in the House, but this request too failed to mollify the enraged congressmen.
After ten minutes, the House was adjourned for a second time and Sachin Tendulkar returned without opening his account in the Rajya Sabha.
Meanwhile, Renuka Chowdhury, a senior Congress Party member said to Sachin Tendulkar, “Has your Bharat Ratna given you the license to speak in the Parliament?” Renuka Chowdhary is a Rajya Sabha MP from Andhra Pradesh.

Samajwadi Party MP Jaya Bachchan said, “Sachin Tendulkar has earned name for India at the world stage. It is a matter of shame that he was not allowed to speak, even when everyone knew it was on today’s agenda. Are only politicians allowed to speak?”
Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan wrote on Twitter: ” It’s a sad day in the history of Rajya Sabha Proceedings that the Greatest Cricketer of all time & a Bharat Ratna Awardee @sachin_rt was not allowed to share his views on a completely apolitical subject as sports by the members of the same Congress Party who brought him here.”

Sachin Tendulkar was nominated by the Congress-led UPA government in the Rajya Sabha in April 2012.
