Tipu Sultan was Born on 20th Nov 1750. His Jayanti is Celebrated on 10th Nov. The Reason is Disturbing

Congress government celebrated “Tipu Jayanthi” on November 10th, a state wide festival celebrating the life, times and legacy of Tipu. Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah made unfortunate comparisons, where he compared a murderer like Tipu with saints, philosophers and great statesmen like Basavanna and Kanaka Dasa.

This is a new low for appeasement of a community at the expense of not only the state but also native Kannadigas who can never forget the gruesome atrocities committed by the usurper king of Mysore. As a matter of fact the tyrant was born on November 20 while the government decided to celebrate it on November 10.

So really what had happened on Nov. 10?

This question was answered by Former Bangalore University Vice Chancellor Thimappa Manchale Suryanarayanarao when he said “The tyrant Tipu’s birthday falls on November 20. November 10 is the day on which he hanged 700 Iyengars in Melkote.” Another Source seconds the same fact.

Is this what the Government of Karnataka wants to celebrate? This is a cruel joke on not only the Iyengars but also on other communities like the Kodavas of Coorg, Nairs of Wayanad and Malabar, Zamorins of Calicut, the Mangalorean Catholics (Nasranis), the Jains of Dakshin Kannada, the Hindus from Dindigal and Coimbatore against whom he had committed unspeakable crimes including forced conversions; which Tipu himself mentioned in his two autobiographies: Sultan-ut Tawarikh and Tarikh-i-Khudadadi, housed in the India Office Library, London.

The State Government wants to project that people with vested interest are opposing Tipu because Tipu Sultan was a Muslim Monarch, but the fact is that the protest is against the monstrous atrocities committed by Tipu and the most shocking fact is that there is ample documentation of his atrocities in Gazetteers of Mysore and Kerala. Probably Siddaramaiah’s government believes in the idea that if a lie is repeated a hundred times it becomes the truth. We, the team at tfipost.com will not sit idle and watch this repugnant celebration from sidelines BUT bring you the “truth of the tyrant“.

The glorification of Tipu began with the controversial novel entitled “The sword of Tipu Sultan” by Bhagwan Gidwani, the novel was full of bias, deliberate distortion, fabrication, and intentional suppression of many recorded facts of history with the object of glorifying a villain as a man of great religious tolerance, national hero, a benevolent ruler, and an epitome of all virtues. The incisive truth about the sword of Tipu is that it carried an inscription in Persian stating: “My victorious Sabre is lightning for the destruction of the Non-believers. Thou art our Lord, make him victorious who promotes the faith of Muhammad. Confound him, who refuses the faith of Muhammad and withold us from those who are so inclined”.

This book was also the basis of the serial “The sword of Tipu sultan” by Sanjay Khan, a serial I myself enjoyed in childhood and could never understand why my parents and grandparents detested my watching it. I still remember my grandfather telling me “It’s all lies, he was a murderer don’t watch that serial.” I could never understand at the time when serial was aired, why he would leave the house and sit outside until I finished watching it. Doordarshan in those days is nothing but a state owned vehicle of miraculous brainwashing. The history of legal battle against the book and serial is long and the essence of the matter is that Sanjay Khan was forced to add the disclaimer that “it was a work of fiction”. Maybe the Government of Karnataka should take a leaf from it and add it to their celebration.

The actions of the tyrant is well remembered by the Kodavas (the natives of Coorg) and the stories of the tyrant Tipu Sultan was, is and will not be forgotten.

The fierce war between the Kodavas and their bitter rivalry is well known to everyone in Karnataka which the tyrant lost over 30 times. Tipu Sultan once managed to capture Kodagu and said to have uttered the words “if you dare to ambush my men again, I will honour you all with Islam.” As expected, the brave Kodavas did not take this lying down and beat Tipu Sultan driving him back to Mysore even after being outnumbered 1:3. Let apart the celebrations for Tipu, we must remember that the spiteful elimination of indigenous Kodavas is tantamount to genocide pitting him with the likes of Hitler.

On 13th of December 1785, Tipu Sultan connived with General Lally (His French counterpart) at Devattparamb located on banks of the river Kaveri, he sent a message to Kodavas inviting them for negotiations unarmed with his army lurking in the forest, what then followed was a massive carnage where he butchered about 70,000 Kodavas and captured 90,000. It is said that following the bloodbath, river Kaveri ran red from the blood oozing from the dead for 12 days. The ghoulish barbarity of Tipu Sultan has bee chronicled in the widely acclaimed works of Mark Wilks, Lewis Rice and Mir Kirmani.

Tipu Sultan in 1783 during his siege of Palghat Fort had scaled new heights of savagery where “Tipu’s soldiers daily exposed the heads of many innocent Brahmins within sight from the fort for Zamorin and his Hindu followers to see. It is asserted that the Zamorin rather than witness such enormities and to avoid further killing of innocent Brahmins, chose to abandon the Palghat Fort” as documented in works of Col. Fullarton.

The malevolence for non Muslims in the mind of tyrant Tipu is something that crosses all limits and sensibilities. Tipu Sultan had designated his own State as “Sircar-e-Khodadad -e- usud-ilhye -e- Ahmady” – in plain language, an Islamic State much like the present day ISIS. He created two types of troops – Ahmadis and Usud Illeye. The Hindu captives were converted as Usud Illye and the rest were said to be Ahmadis. This division among Muslims and Non Muslims was carried out throughout his empire both in his ministry and public where only Muslims were members of the court and they had to pay no tax. All non Muslims had to pay a hefty tax. Tipu had proclaimed: “It is our constant object and sincere intention that those worthless and stiff-necked infidels (Hindus) who have turned aside their heads from obedience to the true believers, and openly raised the standard of infidelity should be chastised by the hands of the faithful and made either to acknowledge the true religion or to pay tribute.” His notices to commanders and allies read as “you will do whatever may be in your power to increase the lustre of the firm religion” and “the army of the accursed infidels has been trodden underfoot by the hoofs of the horses of Islam and rendered vile and miserable, while the religion of Mohammed has been thereby made to flourish. You, Sir, will, therefore, apply with all your heart the best means of advancing the religion of Mohammed and of administering to the support of Islam.”

Even Tipu’s own court bard, Kirmani, concedes, “He (Tipu) had, however, a great dislike to, or rather, an abhorrence of the people of other religions”.

Tipu Sultan had appealed to Muslims abroad, especially the Asian Sultans, to help him in his mission of establishing an Islamic caliphate. He wrote to Persian and Turkish rulers pleading with them to invade North India and furthering the reign of Islam. He also wrote to Zaman Shah, the king of Afghanistan, that “we should come together in carrying on a holy war against the infidels, and for freeing the region of Hindustan from the contamination of the enemies of our religion (Hindus)”. Does this sound secular? Maybe to Congress it does.

The dishonest pop historians and Congress stooges might have the gut to show him as a secular benevolent leader but the truth is as far and away from them as their sensibilities. They should suggest to the Siddaramaiah’s government for using the great seal of Tipu in their official letters. The details can be found in Major Alex Dirom’s comprehensive account of the Third Mysore War published in 1793 in London, which reads as follows:

“I am the Messenger of the true faith.”
“I bring Unto you the Edicts of Truth.”
“From CONQUEST and the Protection of the Royal Hyder comes my tide of SULTAN and the world under the Sun and Moon is subject to my Signet.”

Tipu’s hatred for Kannada was a well known fact, in fact he replaced Kannada with Persian as the language of administration and told his officials to use Persian on coins and swords a clear “anti Kannada” stand. Maybe this is what Congress wants to promulgate.

Also attributed to Tipu Sultan is his distaste for Hindu names of places and is documented in history by change of names during his reign of terror as: Mangalapuri (Mangalore) to Jalalabad, Cannanore (Kanwapuram) to Kusanabad, Bepur (Vaippura) to Sultanpatanam or Faruqui, Mysore to Nazarabad, Dharwar to Quarshed-Sawad, Gooty to Faiz-Hissar, Ratnagiri to Mustafabad, Dindigul to Khaliqabad, and Calicut (Kozhikode) to Islamabad. Following the death of Tipu, the traditional names were embraced yet again. I sincerely hope that the Congress regime is not planning something on these lines to immortalise his memory in years to come.

Military expeditions of Tipu Sultan lead to a destruction of well over 8000 temples, among a few to name are: Thrikkavu temple which after dismantling and destroying the idol, he converted into an ammunition depot, temples in Thali, Thiruvannur, Varackal, Puthur, Govindapuram, Thalikkunnu, Keraladheeswaram, Thrikkandiyoor, Thriprangatu, Parampathali, Panmayanadu and Vengidangu were all destroyed. While the list can go on, the heart rending destruction of temples by Tipu is too obvious to miss (some of them were repaired with hearty efforts from Zamorins). Does the government plan to continue the destruction started by Tipu or does the government hope that the temples made of stone turn to sand erasing the memory of what was destroyed by a despot?

Lewis Rice, a reputed historian who wrote the History of Mysore after going through various official records, stated as follows: “In the vast empire of Tipu Sultan on the eve of his death, there were only two Hindu temples having daily pujas within the Sreerangapatanam fortress. It is only for the satisfaction of the Brahmin astrologers who used to study his horoscope that Tipu Sultan had spared those two temples. The entire wealth of every Hindu temple was any way confiscated before 1790.”

Notorious secular historians have painted the idea that Tipu was in fact a nationalist. It is nothing short of an absolute lie. Him fighting the British does not make him a nationalist, he was an imperialist in bed with French to help him establish his dream of Islamic Caliphate. His plan was to divide South India between himself and the French. He had also requested the French to supply ten thousand trained Europeans and thirty thousand negros with the aim of waging his war to his own advantage. There were written agreements between the two parties in this respect which still exist. Dr. I.M. Muthanna, a well known historian had said that Tipu was a traitor as he invited the French to invade India. The letter, dated April 21, 1797, written by Tipu to the French and classified as No. 4 in the Persian File of Records, and quoted by Muthanna in his book, reads:

“Citizen Representatives:

Since I manifested my friendship in writing to you, my messengers have arrived with the following intelligence which will not be displeasing to you. The Nizam, an ally of the English, and the Chief of the Mughals, is very ill and his age leaves no prospect of his recovery. He has four children who are disputing the right of succession. One of them is much attached to me, (he) is the favourite of the chiefs of the people and is expected to succeed him.
I inform these events in order to prove to you that it is now the moment for you to invade India. With little trouble we shall drive the British out of India. Rely on my friendship.”
“Your ally (Sd) Tipu Sultan.”

This is Tipu’s expression of love for India and probably Congress loves this idea too.

There is no way that one can concede even for the sake of argument that Tipu was an apostle of peace and religious tolerance, him being projected so is nothing short of a political gimmick which is both disgusting and offensive. There is a mountain of data that proves him to be a fanatic muslim with his sole aim as establishing an Islamic caliphate. The state may want us to forget the atrocities committed by him against our Hindu ancestors but we have neither a short memory nor are we large hearted enough to forgive and forget for the lessons of history are repeated again if they are not remembered correctly.

Coming back to where we started from. Tipu Sultan was actually born on November 20, 1750. But the Congress Government in Karnataka  went ahead and declared November 10 as Tipu Jayanti when their favorite nationalist secularist monarch imprisoned the Wodeyar of Yaduvansha and usurped their kingdom. Diwali fell on November 10 that year, and to mark the auspicious occasion of Deepavali, Tipu massacred 800 Mandayam Iyengars of Melkote while his army of marauders raped women.

It’s SICK. Very Very Sick.

My honest suggestion to the government is that they should consider celebrating 4 May, the day Tipu died as a mark or respect to the Kannadigas and by giving an ode to the brave Kodavas and other indigenous subjects who survived the “Tipu holocaust”.
