We Are All for Women-Empowerment, But This Proposal Is Not Just Bad, It’s Plain Idiotic

women's reservation bill

In 1997, when Laloo Yadav was engulfed in fodder scam case, he cleverly put forward his wife Rabri Devi to be CM in his place. In effect, the unlettered woman became a proxy of her vile husband and carried on the destruction of the state for eight more years. These eight years were vital, for the party to sustain itself for a comeback more than a decade later. Had the (now lapsed) women’s reservation bill been passed by the Lok Sabha, it would have filled Lok Sabha and legislatives assemblies with dozens and dozens of Rabris.

It would have opened the floodgates to fill one third of the parliament and legislatives assemblies with daughters, wives, second/third/fourth wives, sisters in law, grandmothers, aunts, granddaughters, nieces, grandnieces etc of existing incumbent political leaders.

Because anyone who thinks that the only way to improve the situation is by women’s reservation (or for that matter, any kind of reservation) is either watching too much Bollywood or has some sort of vested interest.

So, in simple words, women’s reservation in parliament is not going to give you great women leaders you might want to see in. It will result in puppets who will be controlled by the same people you want to throw out of the system. It will not lead to emancipation, it will lead to elitism.

Its a fallacy to believe that women legislators solve women’s problems better. This is an interference in the democratic process of elections , it is insulting to the electorate who has the right to choose the best person they deem fit to represent them. How disastrous it will be if a election ticket is given to a corrupt woman candidate in place of an honest male candidate just because the constituency seat is reserved for women?

For every Golda Meir or Margaret Thatcher, there are scores of corrupt women politicians who symbolise equality and empowerment via the numbers wrt ill gotten wealth, scams and political vendetta. Hillary Clinton, Mamata Banerjee, Imelda Marcos, Jayalalithaa to name a few.

Women’s reservation bill, which proposes 33% reservation for women in the parliament, has long been lapsed now. Now, women’s organizations say that they want atleast 50%.

Even 33% bill hasn’t been passed and they are making more demands. This is like losing sleep over which school a child will go to even before you agree to conceive it.

“With the slogan “Ab 33 percent nahi 50 percent”, the National Alliance for Women’s Reservation Bill has demanded 50 percent reservation for women in the Lok Sabha and state assemblies instead of 33 percent.”

While women’s reservation is already in place in local bodies, and is now going to be increased to 50% , has it really brought any change at village and block level?

By and large they remain proxy rulers, rubbers stamps of their husbands and other people pulling the strings. Merely getting elected because of being a woman to fill the quota serves no purpose if the real power will remain firmly in the hands of the people you want to oust. If this women’s representation is such a failure at the local level, how is it going to be a success at the national level?

But who wants to see reason in the quota/reservation republic that is India?

Noticed something here? All this begging accompanied by hoarse wailing for women’s reservation is communist/left led. All the loudest spokespersons of it belong to the left.

So who wants to flag this dead horse again? Why, the left, ofcourse. By making this a matter of feminism and misogyny.

India has had a woman prime minister for 16 years and having women chief ministers for various states has been a common feature for many years. But feminist logic wants to see none of this. India is the worst place for women. They are oppressed here. India means rape. End of story. And you are a misogynist if you disagree.

Feminism for over a century now has been a leftist tool to breakup the family unit, so that the next generation is raised without any thoughts of its own with no power to fight back, so that it can be moulded by the people in power to have them supporting them forever by making them dependent on them forever. Feminism was promoted by both the government and corporates, in order to have surplus labour, surplus consumers for everything from durables to properties and at the same time bringing the overall wage amount down. That is why the ‘’wage gap’’ argument is stupid. It was meant to be that way. Feminism benefitted only a handful of wealthy women. To the working class and middle class woman it has only given additional responsibility to raise children alone, bigger debts, corporate slavery and inability to have any kind of fulfillment in life.

Feminists are a funny species. They claim that women are not just equal but superior to men, that women need men like fish need bicycles, but at the same time they want big daddy government run by these same oppressive men to make laws that are partial to women (best example is 498 A ) wrt to divorce cases, domestic violence, sexual harassment and in case of the west, even want the government to subsidise birth control pills. Women don’t need men. But then men should pay all their shopping bills , restaurant bills and pay alimony in case of a divorce.

Indian feminists are more pathetic than their western counterparts for two reasons:-

1: Not a single thought in their puny brains is original. All the clichés that they use today, have been used in the 1960s and 1970s. I’m just waiting for them to start using the “98 genders” fad that is the looney left’s latest.

2: They simply fail to observe and learn the destruction that has been brought on the west by their beloved and now obsolete ideology. They want the same ruin to befall them.

Here is feminism, in chaste Hindi, as it is applied in India :-

“Main aaj ki naari hoon, mujhe ab is rishte mein sirf mera apmaan nazar aata hai. Talaq chahiye mujhe , taaki main apne astitva ko dhoond sakuu. Ab do karod de kutte, main jiyungi kaise?”

What is true at the micro level is also true at the macro level. Women’s reservation wont produce any Golda Meir in India. It will only produce more of Mayawati, Jayalalitha, Mamata Bannerjee or Sasikala or Jagir Kaurs. Reservation does not produce quality. It only legitimises  illness in the guise of promoting equality.

This country already has problems and filth thrust on it which will take atleast two generations to be rectified if started today, hence making neither this writer or the reader be able to see their results. Lets not add more to it.

“To be a feminist is to acknowledge that one’s life has been regressed. The demand for granting preferential treatment to women is an admission on her part of her inferiority and there has been no need for such a thing in India as the women have always been by the side of men in Council and in the fields of battle…. We must have no mutual conflict in our homes or abroad. We must transcend differences. We must rise above nationalism, above religion, above sex.”
– Sarojini Naidu
(at the Fourth session of All India Women’s Conference, Bombay, 1930)
