A Moving train. An on-duty constable. A woman traveling alone. The constable rapes the woman. This case shocked the collective conscience of the nation. A woman was raped in a moving train in Uttar Pradesh’s Bijnor District. This news was first reported by a lesser known news site called “Janata Ka Reporter”, founded by one Rifat Jawaid.
Let us look at the chain of events:

Meaning – Humanity is shamed in Yogi’s regime again, A police constable raped a sick woman in moving train in UP’s Bijnor.
The report conclusively states that a sick woman was raped in Lucknow-Chandigarh express by Kamal Shukla, an on-duty constable of GRP. When the train stopped at Bijnor station, the woman was found in an unconscious state. The report further claims that a group of incensed people bashed up the constable.
The report slyly mentions that the woman was a rozedaar (Fasting in the holy month of Ramzan), thereby giving this report a distinct communal color.
Story 2 – ‘जनता का रिपोर्टर’ की खबर का असर, चलती ट्रेन में बीमार महिला से बलात्कार करने वाला सिपाही निलंबित[LINK]
Meaning – The effect of Janata Ka Reporter’s report, the constable who raped a woman in moving train, suspended
This time the report takes no sly digs but declares that a Muslim Woman was indeed raped by constable Kamal Shukla, and the report was FIRST PUBLISHED in Janata ka Reporter.
The report further claims that the “guilty” has been suspended. The report goes on to mention that the pictures of the illicit act were clicked by one Umesh who was on the train at that time. Umesh told Janata Ka Reporter that he was stunned by the act and if things like these can happen with a Muslim sister, it can happen with a Hindu Sister as well.
Story 3 – चलती ट्रेन में रेप: बयान से पलटी महिला, बोली- नहीं हुआ रेप[LINK]
Meaning – Rape in Moving Train: Woman backs out from her statement, claims “I wasn’t raped”
This report wasn’t published in Janata Ka Reporter but in Navbharat Times which is a reputed Hindi Daily. The report states that investigating GRP Team has claimed that the woman has denied charges of rape. The team confirmed that medical reports do not present any evidence of rape as well. The report further claims that the woman is pregnant. This means that the woman has done a complete U-Turn from the statements, she made earlier.
Now this leads us to some very important questions:
- Who is this woman and why did she deny the charges she first pressed?
- Janata Ka Reporter claims to have FIRST PUBLISHED the report, who are their sources?
- The Rozedar Muslim Woman raped by an on-duty Hindu constable was a recipe-for-disaster, shouldn’t the news site have been a little more cautious?
- Headlines like “Humanity is shamed in Yogi’s regime again” do hint at a sinister smear campaign against UP CM Yogi Adityanath, what was the need to set this narrative?
- Why hasn’t Janata Ka Reporter issued a clarification yet?
- Will the state government take cognizance of the matter and investigate it further?
And this is not the first time, Janata Ka Reporter has jumped the guns, they have been a habitual offender. They claimed that the Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar was seen “visibly dozing off” during the Republic Day parade in Delhi, which was refuted by Opindia.
