Communist party of India( Marxist) or CP(I)M is a legal communist party of India.
The Party is guided by the philosophy and principles of Marxism–Leninism and is well known for its anti-globalization and anti-capitalist stance. Currently CP(I)M has a good presence in three states, Kerala ,West Bengal and Tripura. While it is exhibiting Hinduphobia in Kerala, Tripura government is reeling under massive corruption. In West Bengal, a MP has been suspended for having a costly pen, with the power, communism in India is slowly transforming to embrace corruption, hinduphobia etc as the new doctrine.
Corruption charges
There are serious allegations of corruption on Manik Sarkar government in Tripura. Congress MLA has alleged that the Left Front government did not spend a sum of Rs 45.55 crore in 2013-14, Rs 44.54 crore in 2014-15 and Rs 46.58 crore in 2015-16 financial years under MGNREGA scheme. A large amount of money has been illegally shifted to a savings account of Tripura Garmin Bank. Sunil Deodhar, the BJP in charge of Tripura has said and I quote, “Biggest corruption scandal of Tripura CM Manik Sarkar. 25% out of total 67% BPL card holders of the state are fraud CPM cadre. They are withdrawing money of MNREGA scheme without doing any physical work. They are actually working full-time for their party.”
While the CPIM is immersed in corruption in Tripura; in West Bengal, the party suspended Rajya Sabha MP Ritabrata Bandyopadhyay for ‘leading a lavish lifestyle’ and using expensive watches and electronic gadgets. Bandyopadhyay was using Apple watch, Mont Blanc pen and other expensive gadgets.
On the other hand, CPI MLA Geetha Gopi in Kerala threw a lavish wedding, photographs of her daughter’s wedding wearing an enormous amount of gold jewellery spread on social media like wildfire. The party has said it was unbecoming of a communist leader to host such a luxurious wedding. However no disciplinary action has been taken against her.
Violence to silence opponents
CPIM has been going after its political opponents in a more aggressive and violent way, several leaders and party workers of BJP have been killed by CPIM cadres. CM pinayrayi’s constituency Kannur has seen a spate of political murders. The rise of violence is also attributed to Pinarayi Vijayan a hardcore communist taking over as Kerala CM.
Hindu Phobic
After a cattle sale notification by the central government, CPIM vociferously opposed it, calling it as beef ban, it conducted beef fest across Kerala which showed how Hinduphobic the CPIM is.
Recently, Kerala Devaswom board minister Kadakampally Surendran courted controversy after he removed a throne-like sofa placed on the stage for the head of the Sringeri Mutt at an event in Thiruvananthapuram. The incident happened on Sunday during a function to inaugurate the renovated Mithranandapuram pond next to the Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple.
Coming back to curious case of Ritabrata Bandyopadhyay, he has been suspended for 3 months for his “lavish lifestyle”. He was often criticized in social media for showing off his apple watch and other expensive electronic gadgets. At the same time, there was a lavish wedding in Kerala and corruption in Tripura. This shows how the party is transforming and moving away from communism to the new doctrine of corruption, lavish lifestyle and Hinduphobia.
