After registering a historic win in UP Assembly Elections, the elected MLAs of BJP will be electing their leader on 18th of March. Many names are doing the rounds of internet since last couple of days. Yogi Adityanath was the top contender for the post of CM as far as the social media sentiments were concerned. UP BJP Chief Keshav Prasad Maurya whose growth story follows the traces of PM Modi himself was a popular CM choice too. Closely followed by Yogi and Maurya, was Home Minister Rajnath Singh who was ceremoniously declared the CM by social media last evening. Mahesh Sharma, Minister of Culture was a top contender for the CM Post too, so were party spokespersons Siddhartha Nath Singh and Srikant Sharma. And then there was some buzz about Lucknow Mayor Dinesh Sharma being the top choice of Modi and Shah.
but looks like none of the famous choices are going to wear the crown in the crown jewel of BJP’s electoral Crown. According to most News outlets, Gajipur MP and minister of state of Railways, Manoj Sinha is set to become the next UP Chief.
There may be several reasons behind selecting Manoj Sinha as the next Uttar Pradesh CM:
Manoj Sinha is said to share an amicable relation with Modi and Shah. Even in his chief ministerial days, Narendra Modi had campaigned for Manoj Sinha in Gajipur.
Manoj is a well-educated man. An Alumni of IIT BHU, he has been active in student politics since his college days. He was first elected as an MP in 1996. He is also known as an incorruptible man in BJP circles and his performance as the minister of state of Railways has been phenomenal. It was because of his good work, that he was also given the charge of Communications Ministry during 2016 Cabinet expansion. Manoj Sinha has also worked towards the betterment of Eastern UP also known as Poorvanchal.
Sinha’s candidature will be a mid-path between the alleged Brahmin-Kshatriya lobby clash with in BJP. Manoj Sinha’s ascension will prove that merit is the single biggest deciding factor for Modi and Shah.
UP has suffered in the hands of incompetent leaders like Mulayam Singh Yadav, Akhilesh Yadav and Mayawati for far too long. Manoj Sinha’s proven track record, impeccable academic credentials and his humble down to earth persona is exactly the kind of leadership UP needs right now.
