The methods adopted by Christian missionaries in order to carry out its operations (based on the talks of Rajiv Malhotra) :
1. Charity work in order to create an environment of goodwill and friendship.
2. Building of Charitable Facilities and foundations like schools, colleges, hospitals, libraries, etc. and create a monopoly of such services.
3. The Three Generation Plan –
i. Generation 1: Secular approach wherein all paths are valid including that of Jesus.
ii. Generation 2: Teaching and preaching about Jesus but students are told to respect their Parents and their Beliefs. Thus, they lose faith in their own tradition and start believing what is preached to them.
iii. Generation 3: Once grown up, they’re ready to be Harvested.
iv. Some get converted willingly, others are given ‘help’, or the illiterate are threatened with Hell and all sorts of other things.
Now comes a time to create a Narrative of the land wherein all the Christians as well as Non-Christians can relate to so that the Converted population isn’t treated as an outsider and the Non-Christians can be strategically indoctrinated an Baptised.
Such a narrative opposes the larger narrative of the Region or country where it belongs to.
The common local culture gets Hijacked into being used for Christian festivals and events on a regular basis. This can easily deceive Non-Christians and bring them to Christianity.
Similar tactics have been used in South India to create a Dravidian Identity.
The Case of Nagalim :
The State of Nagaland dominated by a militant Group called, ‘The National Socialist Council of Nagaland (NSCN)’ which eyes to create a separate Christian Dominated Nagalim or Greater Nagaland has recently signed Cease Fire with the Indian Government in 2015.
The problem isn’t limited to Nagaland Itself. This nationalism is spreading through the fake narrative of a Cohesive Naga Identity into Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur and Mizoram. In this region, most of the Tribes aren’t Naga in reality, however more and more people on a frequent basis have started identifying themselves to be Nagas.
The only common faction amongst all these so-called Naga Tribes is the American Baptist Church, that they put their faith into. There was a partition in the NSCN which formed the NSCN – IM and the NSCN – K, whose negotiations happen in the American Baptist Church.
Christian Population over a period of 100 years:
Arunachal Pradesh – less than 1% (1971) to 30% (2011)
Nagaland – less than 1% (1901) to 90% (2011)
Mizoram – less than 1% (1901) to 86% (1991)
Thus, the root of all these problems seems to be the American Baptist Church and the later Conversions that have taken place by other missionaries which has deliberately planned these conversions with its wealth and took advantage of the warring tribes of the North East.
The unifying Mantra became, “Nagaland for Christ” and paved way for the demand of a separate State and a constant friction with its own Nation, India.
What can be done?
The solution is Bold and it is not for the ones who always have a ‘So what?’, attitude.
It is a failure of the Indian State that it has never given its much required attention to the North East. They have always been treated as outsiders in their own country.
Indian government must facilitate good student exchange programs and connect these states with the Mainstream of Students.
Government must investigate the Funding of these Churches and force them by legal means to become self-reliant.
There are many Hindu Organisations that have been successful in converting a lot of Foreigners to Hinduism, if they can do that, they can at least try to educate the remaining Hindus in these Hilly States. They must start more schools and colleges in order to facilitate the Hindu Students. If the Christians united the Tribes by giving them an Alien Religion and a Language, the Hindu organisations with their money must unite the existing Hindus by giving them a Common Language, most probably Sanskrit – just because it is run by an Non Governmental Organisation in their Private School, people wouldn’t raise issues of Saffronisation.
Such organisations must take up serious Charity work in order to Get a Grip in their Region.
The Naga Identity must be countered by making these Tribes a Part of the National Narrative and also create differences amongst these warring tribes whereby breaking the unity of the Nagas. It must be done in the academic field.
Instead of teaching how different we are in the Dharmik fold, these organisations must teach how all the Dharmik faiths are similar and how they’re different from the Abrahmic faiths.
In short it is a reverse divide and rule method which must be accepted wherein we divide the Christians and Unite the Dharmik faiths (which includes the Tribals).
A Pan-Dharmik identity must be created and propagated to the Hindus and Buddhists in those States and the idea of differences with the Christians must be brought about.
The missionaries provided a lot of funds for people to run their businesses. The same must be adopted by Hindu organisations.
Because : “वित्तेन रक्ष्यते धर्मो।”
This is merely an overview of the situation, We must study on ground, how the Missionaries created such a huge change and beat them by using their own techniques however in a better manner. A lot of hard work is required for even they took 100 years for a mission that is still, incomplete.
If we sit down contemplating if it is morally correct or not, then we will incur nothing but a greater Loss. One must understand that –
“अहिंसा परमो धर्मः धर्म हिंसा तथैव च।”
After getting hit by Lord Rama from behind, Bali said, “Rama! You’re a Great Warrior, you’re supposed to fight from ahead. It is Unethical for you to hit me from behind like a Coward. How could you do this?”
To this Lord Rama replied, “You are the one who illegitimately took over Sugriva’s kingdom and abducted his wife. You mustn’t talk about ethics for ethics is in between two Ethical people.”
