Instead of taking the Jihadi menace in West Bengal head on, the West Bengal government seems more interested in appeasing the Islamic fundamentalists. Perhaps, it views Jihadis as a cow that can be milked for electoral gains. In spite of the steadily deteriorating communal situation in the state, the government is more interested in holding on to its minority votebank, which alone can guarantee it electoral success.
In line with this petty philosophy that jeopardizes national interest, the government of West Bengal has now decreed that all state libraries will be allocated a budget to celebrate Nabi Diwas. There is no historical precedence for celebration of ‘Nabi Diwas’ in the state. In fact, before Bangladeshi Muslims swarmed and overwhelmed the state, Nabi Diwas, was a minor festival, to the extent that it is even now a restricted holiday in the State government’s calendar.
The beginning of celebrations of Nabi Diwas in Libraries, is perhaps a precursor to its celebrations throughout the state as a major festival. As a self-professed ‘Secular’ government, Mamata Banerjee is doing more to wreck Bengal’s communal fabric than perhaps the Jihadis themselves.
Not so long ago, a school in Tehatta came under siege from the Islamists demanding that they be allowed to celebrate Nabi Diwas inside the school premises. When the permission was denied, the Islamists went on a rampage and even assaulted the school principal. Things took a turn for the worse and the school had to be shut for an extended period of time. In fact, when the students of the school demanded celebration of traditional Saraswati Puja inside their school premises, they were lathi charged by Mamata Banerjee’s police. It is also worthwhile to note that Nabi Diwas was ostensibly the reason why Hindus of Dhulagarh were assaulted by Islamists in December last year. Instead of trying to controlling the religious fervour from descending into communal riots, Mamata Banerjee seems more interested in aiding the Jihadists in establishing a caliphate in West Bengal.
It is this outright appeasement and surrendering of national interests to Jihadis and Islamists that is alarming the Hindu community in West Bengal. Hindu Samhati, an NGO working for Hindu interests celebrated its 9th anniversary on 14th February. A rally organized by the organization was attended by more than a lakh people, demonstrating how ordinary citizens of the state are living in fear of Jihadi and Islamist elements.
A recent report in Swarajya Magazine highlighted how Mullahs in West Bengal are enforcing Sharia laws with impunity, with the state administration, turning a blind eye. Even as Hindu exodus from parts of West Bengal continues, Mamata Banerjee is playing the proverbial Nero. Propped up by electoral support by illegal Bangladeshi immigrants and supported liberally by Bangladeshi terror money, Mamata Banerjee is allowing and even encouraging the conversion of West Bengal into an Islamists’ laboratory.
It seems that petty politicians such as Mamata Banerjee are working overtime to put in practice, Choudhary Rehmat Ali’s theory of Dinia. As per the theory, India was to be transformed into the continent of Dinia, where islands of Islam would thrive among backward Kaffir dominated regions. As per this theory, Bengal region was to be transformed into Bangistan.
It took hard work of leaders like Syama Prasad Mookerjee and many travails suffered by United Bengal’s Hindu communities before West Bengal could be established as a homeland for Hindu Bengalis. In the time of a generation or two, West Bengal is on its way to becoming Rehmat Ali’s Bangistan.
The decision on allowing Nabi Diwas celebrations in state’s libraries should be seen in the light of the policy of Muslim appeasement followed by the West Bengal government. By its actions or passivity, the state government is only emboldening the Islamist elements to go on the offensive. Such a policy will only result in a thousand more Kaliachaks and Dhulagarhs. The day is not far, when like the Hindus of Kashmir, the Hindus of Bengal will need to flee for their safety. The policy also puts the entire Eastern part of the country under threat. By playing into the hands of the Jihadis, Mamata Banerjee is imperilling the unity and integrity of the country. This will have serious ramifications in the future.
