All the much questioned and debated foreign trips by Modi and the continual effort by the Foreign Ministry under the watchful guidance of Sushma Swaraj and Home Minister Rajnath Singh have borne fruits. While Modi during the first half of his 5 year tenure tirelessly engaged with all the countries, he thought he had the potential to play in India’s growth story in the next decade; the Prime Minister was mocked for his frequent foreign trips by a certain section of the society.
But today, when the whole world is following Modi and his policies (be it the approach to wipe out the black economy or the tact of minimalizing the influence of international criminals), the news of international fugitive and 1993 Mastermind’s assets in Dubai being sealed by the UAE government authorities has hit the headlines.
Dawood who is reportedly said to have taken shelter in Pakistan and is guarded by the ISI, has businesses spread across the globe. Being valued at somewhere around $7 billion, Dawood is one of the most wanted criminals all over the world.
Pakistan, and the ISI, which have been providing the fugitive a safe haven for more than a decade now , have equally been dealt with a severe blow, post India’s surgical strikes and demonetization. Dawood, in return for this shelter, provides the Pakistani Army and the Taliban with logistical support to wage war (unconventional) against India, by providing them with arms and ammunition.
But with the staunch stance taken by the UAE against the Don, this has come as a rude shock to not only him but also to his Pakistani Masters, who heavily depend on his network and contacts for their project of waging jihad against India. A total of Rs. 15,000 Crore worth of assets(reportedly) belonging to Dawood and the ‘D’ Company have been sealed by the authorities.
Based on the confidential list provided by Ajit Doval(former NSA) on behalf of India, when Doval had accompanied PM Modi for his trip to UAE in August, 2015, the authorities started their investigation on the assets held by the Don and his family. This action holds itself up high, considering the relations India had with UAE prior to Modi’s visit.
As Rajnath Singh had stated before as well, the Government was doing all it could to trap Dawood and gherao him from all corners until he has nowhere to go, but to face trial here in Mumbai for the heinous crimes committed by him from 1993 and thereafter.
