Om Puri will go down in history as an actor known for exceptional movies like Aakrosh, Arohan and Ardh Satya and a person known for a completely disarrayed personal life. In 2013, just before their divorce Puri’s wife Nandita Puri accused him of beating her with a stick and hurling abuses at her.
Stars are prone to a lot of public scrutiny and are generally considered guilty as soon as any allegation against them comes to the Public notice. Hence when this news came to public eye Om Puri was considered guilty by default. I had my doubts back then.
After their divorce, Nandita Puri came out in the open and accused him of being a lecherous old hag. She also alleged that Om Puri had double sex-escapades with two maids. I was still skeptical.
Now as I happened to watch Om Puri’s outburst on IBN7 yesterday where he appeared morbidly drunk and clearly out of his senses. He was speaking on the Pakistan Artiste row and was talking on behalf of the liberal cabal of Bollywood.
He was hysterical as if something treasurable has been snatched from him. He had one answer for every question –tell the government to ban visas for every Pakistani businessman, and every Pakistani in the country.
Such was his hysteria that normally a very calm and composed Sumit Awasthi lost his cool too.
Om Puri lacks even the basic sense of reasoning and is a highly irrational peace crow. Ideally I should have called him a peace dove but his cawing for harmony on the show makes me christen him so. And the reason why I call him highly irrational is because he tried painting the Pakistani Actor row as a Hindu Vs Muslim issue.
He over stressed on the point that India is home to more Muslims than Pakistan and that Muslims are our brothers. The illogical old hag while shielding the Muslim Community was speaking as if the Pakistani Artiste row will cause a Hindu-Muslim rift and that Muslims of India will always stand with Pakistan.
Om Puri then went on to undermine the sacrifice of martyr Nitin Kumar. In his own words “Use kya maine kaha tha border pe jaake marne ke liye”. He even went on to disrespect Cthe Kargil martyr Captain Vijyant Thapar’s father who was also present there as a panelist. That was when the other panelists decided that they had enough of Om Puri.
But he went on cawing ceaselessly.
Funnily he even said “Kaisi Kaisi Filmein banate ho tum log Pakistan ke Khilaaf”. This is the same actor who spoke these famous lines in Farhan Akhtar’s Hrithik Roshan starrer ‘Lakshya’ – Karan Sahab pakistani haare to palatkar Phir vapas aata hai. Agar jeet jaoge to laparvah mat hona”
Om Puri who appears so dismayed about the anti-Pakistan flicks made in India, chooses to star in an India-Pakistan war film? Of course with the dough component in place, the equation changes.
He also appealed aggressively to not let India Pakistan become Israel and Palestine. Looks like the old hag is completely cut off from the world and has no idea about what happens at the LoC. This is very typical of rich spineless jerks who believe the world is one big happy family sans any tussles.
Om Puri is the kind of filth that we generally overlook. He characterizes the horrible face of Bollywood where mafia money flows and anti-India sentiments are nurtured. Om Puri, the old rogue who would have been slaughtered or converted or confined to a corner, had he been born on the other side of the border disregards the supreme sacrifice of our forces.
This shouldn’t be taken as the rant of a has-been. A lot of young actors look up to Om Puri as their acting idol. However unreasoned or irritable he may be, Om Puri still has enough power to influence other artists. He’ll possibly be teaching young students at leftist hellholes like the FTII. In simple words he can replicate his models and hence we mustn’t take the Om Puris and Mahesh Bhatts lightly.
And frankly speaking this clear-cut and blatant attempt to disregard the sacrifices of our armed forces is unacceptable.
Peaceniks are generally shrewd and crafty. They talk soft and slow and cleverly push their agenda forward. Om Puri does the peace-preaching thing at loudest decibel levels and in filthiest possible language. He needs to be responded in the same manner and in the same language.
