Students of the “prestigious” Jawaharlal Nehru University on Wednesday chose to set fire to the effigy of Ravana, which had visages of our Prime Minister Modi, BJP President Amit Shah, Yog Guru Ramdev, the Vice Chancellor of JNU and other right aligned faces. When the whole nation was busy purging the negativity in oneself (as well as the terrorism), hatred drew some sociopaths who consider themselves as Liberals, seculars, upholders of the constitution, to disrespect the position of the Prime Minister, as well as the choice of the entire nation who placed the man on that throne.

NSUI, the student body of Congress did not stop after the effigy burning. They went on to shout slogans in abusive language about the Prime Minister and RSS (asking them to drink cow urine). It was neither a surprise to us nor will it have any effect on the government or their methodology of working, like other similar acts.
But this fact is irrefutable: JNU has become an epitome of anti-government, anti-national activity in the country. For those who have forgotten, JNU is the same campus which had issues hoisting the national flag (the situation moved Rt. Gen. G. D. Bakshi to tears), had itself echoed nationwide with slogans such as “Bharat ki barbaadi, Pakistan zindabad, India go back, Afzal tere kaatil zinda hain, Bharat tere tukde honge”, held Afzal Guru as a martyr, provided a stall of Kashmir as a separate nation, (accused of) celebrating the death of CRPF jawans by Naxalites and many other activities, which anyone in their right mind would call nothing short of treason.
JNU has been a center of communist ideologies for years. NSUI, which has taken responsibility for the act, is the student wing of Indian National Congress, but the lines of communism are blurred with INC, even more so in student bodies, and they love anything that is anti-Modi. (Memory refresh: Manishankar Ayyar asked Pakistan to dismantle the Modi government and bring INC in power). But the real question is what part of communism dictates one to be anti-national? How come an economic terminology (communism) address the anti-national actions of a few? What is the underlying motive of such a protest against the man leading the party in majority after 3 decades? What drives this insane idea of having this diverse nation further divided and destroyed, when you’re eating off of the same, and studying from the taxpayers’ money of the same?
The answers to these questions are tough to comprehend. Or are they? Communism has evolved over the years and each nation has interpreted it through different lenses, but all of have one thing in common which India doesn’t: nationalism. Russia and China, being the prime example of such, are two most powerful countries after the USA. But CPI(M) fails to believe our army, our government, our Prime Minister and wants the proof of surgical strikes. Where is the nationalism? Why is the love of one’s own country looked down upon by these few pseudo-intellectuals who forget the reason they are being able to speak freely in a democracy, is because the army has stopped several invasions? What lens did the Indians use to view communism, that it became anti-nationalism instead? These questions are more answers in themselves, than they are questions.
Occam’s razor states that the simplest explanation with the least number of assumptions is usually the most viable option, or is correct. Applying that to JNU and Communism in India and you get an assumption as the answer. “Considering the fact that the anti-national students of JNU are mentally fit, it is safe to assume that they have vested interest in the deterioration of this nation on a whole, and should be charged, therefore, with sedition, because of their clear motives.” Logic states us to assume that these people are benefitting from their anti-India activity (so does Pakistan). We didn’t need logic or Occam’s razor to see what is in front of our face, but a logical explanation does prevent meaningless counters. The exact nature of benefits is not difficult to imagine.

Disrespecting the position of the democratically elected leader of the world’s largest Republic, should also be considered treason. Freedom of expression is taking a toll in this country. If the people of the country won’t respect their topmost representative to the world, why would the world? Criticism and abuse are different things.
The voters of this country aren’t blind. They are watching every step. And even though petty acts like these, funded by the enemies of the country, won’t have any effect on the government, or their method of work, these will indeed have an effect on the votes of both INC and the Left. That is what matters in the end. And that is why these termites need not be terminated with an active hand. The people of this country are quite able.
