On 29/09/2016, our soldiers clandestinely crossed the LOC, killed Pakistani Army Men and Terrorists and razed their terror launch pads.
Since then Pakistan has been involved in a mega face-saving exercise, first they condemned the Surgical Strike and then they went on to deny it.
The Pakistani establishment knows that the “over-exaggerated” martial might of their army is what keeps their jingoistic nation apart from tearing itself to pieces.
But looks some Pakistani Citizens were not content with their government’s response. They decided to take the matter in their own hands.
A group of Pakistani hackers defaced Indian websites and circulated videos that state India’s surgical strike in PoK was fake.
The malicious Pakistani propaganda and cyber-attack angered the Indian hackers so much that they deployed the Ransomware to lock the network in the neighbouring country.
According to this India Today report, a group of Pakistani hackers – the Pakistan Haxors Crew – has claimed that it had defaced 7,051 Indian websites after India launched surgical strike in PoK.
The websites targeted include the official website of the National Green Tribunal (http://www.greentribunal.gov.in) and Bihar State Electronics Development Corporation (www.biharonline.gov.in.)
And this is how Indian Hackers responded?
Indian hackers attacked the Pakistani network. They locked Pakistan government computers. About 100 computers are now under the control of Indian Hackers.
Such was the assault of Indian Hackers that Pakistani Hackers even offered BitCoins so that they can get control of their computers.
However, Indian hackers rejected the offer and kept the Pakistani sites under their control.
Indian hackers are prepared to unleash a large-scale cyber-attack which can potentially destroy the cyber space of Pakistan. However, they did warn that Pakistani hackers can retaliate too.
The ongoing cyber war can result in a lot of data loss, especially for the Indian Agencies, and hence they are watching the developments closely. Earlier hacking into sites was done to deface them and send a message but now the intelligence gathering has increased. The hackers don’t just deface the websites but spy into critical network.
While the Indian Hackers are self-motivated and sponsored, the hackers operating from Pakistan are state sponsored. Indian Agencies are yet to retaliate.
The technical supremacy of India over Pakistan is immense. And Indian Hackers destroying and capturing Pakistani networks is just a glimpse of it. If the agencies jump directly into the fight, it is going to be very painful for Pakistan.
