The Suicide of ” Dalit Scholar Rohith Vemula “: All Lies Exposed

Dead bodies are excellent props in politics. A corpse can be a podium from which inciting speeches can be made. A corpse can be used as a shield to block all allegations and criticisms. A corpse is a ladder from which new political heights can be reached. And hence all political vultures of India are currently nesting in Hyderabad.

But that’s not shocking because we are used to their corpse-feeding tendencies. But the way they are twisting facts to make it a Dalit Vs Non Dalit, Upper Caste Tyranny, Bigotry of BJP and Partiality of University issue is deplorable.

Let us look at the ‘Indrajaal’ of lies created by the Kejriwals, Owaisis and Rahul Gandhis of Indian Polity!

Lie Number 1: Dalit Scholar Rohith Vemula and His friends were victims

This is the number one lie created to mint more sympathy for Rohith and his friends. If Rohith’s Facebook timeline is any indicator then he was anything but a victim of caste hatred. Rohith Vemula was a leftist by ideology and a rabid Hindu Hater by way of functioning. He called every Non Dalit a Hindu. Here are some gems for you.

Because Memon was no Menon

Dalit Scholar

And India has blood on its hands

Dalit Scholar

Fear the Brahminical Society

Dalit Scholar

Rohith Vemula and his friends idolized a terrorist who waged a war against India. And they did it in the name of Freedom of Expression, an exception that is supposed to override any logical or moral conditions. Nandanam Susheel Kumar, the campus ABVP President got infuriated and added a post about this on his Facebook Page, in which he is said to have referred Vemuli and his friends as ASA (Ambedkar Students Association) Goons. Probably Susheel was exercising his Freedom of Expression as well. Enraged by this, Rohith Vemula and his friends were purported to have beaten him. Their freedom of expression was incontestable but since Susheel’s was unprincipled hence he had it coming. Although it is Susheel’s version versus theirs, there is no clear proof that establishes Rohith Vemula as a victim of racial hatred.

Lie Number 2: It was a Dalit Vs Non Dalit issue:

As Media screeches at the highest decibel levels, a keyword that strikes our subconscious is “Dalit Scholar”.  Rohit Vemula, A Dalit Scholar was supposed to celebrate his 27th birthday on January 30. Rohit Vemula, A Dalit Scholar was passionate about Literature, science, technology and environment. Rohit Vemula, A Dalit Scholar was a voracious reader of revolutionary Dalit literature. Rohit Vemula was a Dalit Scholar whose mother sews clothes for a living and his father who worked as a security guard has been missing for several years now. Rohit Vemula, a Dalit Scholar who hoped to become a science writer someday committed suicide. And who were behind the abetment to suicide? The Non Dalits of course.

WRONG.

The ABVP student leader Nandanam Susheel Kumar who was attacked by Rohith and his friends was an OBC himself.

The senior most professor in the probe committee constituted to inquire into the act of violence by Rohith and his friends is a Dalit.

The Hostel Warden is a Dalit

And Ironically Bandaru Dattatreya the BJP MP who wrote a letter to HRD Ministry comes from Dalit Community as well.

Lie Number 3: Bandaru Dattatreya used his weight to target the ASA Students

Bandaru Dattatreya the sitting MP from Secunderabad did intervene in this matter. And here is what his letter reads:

Notice he clearly mentions “The Purpose of my writing this letter is ONLY to highlight the affairs in Hyderabad University. I earnestly hope, under your dynamic leadership things would change in this campus FOR THE BETTER”. There was no urging or persuasion. As the MP of the district, he deemed it fit to inform the ministry that oversees the functioning of all Central Universities in India. Hanumantha Rao, A former Congress MP also wrote a similar letter to the HRD Ministry highlighting cases of Dalit Students committing suicide. So looks like Dattatreya wasn’t fighting against the ASA Students but against the sad state of the University itself. And he wasn’t going out of his way to protect ABVP students but was merely looping in the concerned minister. A standard Procedure.

Lie Number 4: HRD Ministry made it a political battle

Smriti Irani the union HRD Minister, forwarded Dattatreya’s letter to the university authorities for necessary action. After receiving the letter forwarded by Smriti Irani, the university authorities inquired afresh into the supposed thrashing of Susheel by the ASA Activists. A probe committee was constituted and after the inquiry five students, including Vemula, were expelled and asked to vacate the hostel. They were allowed to attend classes and avail all other administrative facilities but they were debarred from the common areas. But they pitched a tent on the university campus and continued protesting against the university authorities. So in a nutshell, Minister called upon the authorities, to which they complied, ordered a probe, identified miscreants and awarded them with punishments that they deemed fit.

Lie Number 5: Hyderabad University Authorities were unfair and partial

Assume that you are the Vice Chancellor of an institution. As the head of an educational institution, how would you prioritize your responsibilities?

Education or Activism?
Exam Papers or Propaganda posters?
Awakening or Upheaval?

I am assertive that most of you would pick Education, Exams and awakening from the options listed above, after all an educational institution is a center of education, assessments and development. But we cannot take out Activism, Postering and Upheaval from a student’s life. College is where students develop the very core of their belief system, something that stays with them for the rest of their lives. The relevance of Student Politics is a debatable topic but like everything else campus politics also has its set of limitations.

Was organizing Prarthna Sabha for a terrorist justified? NO

Was making Anti National statements justified? NO

Was beating up another student leader justified? NO

Were the University Authorities fair in ordering a probe yes? YES

Was the punishment harsh? NO

Can we call the university unfair or partial? Don’t think so

And the biggest lie would be the Dalit status of the Dalit Scholar Rohith Vemula if the conspiracy theories are correct.

This was a battle of ideologies. This was a story of belief, struggle, reprimand and a sad repercussion. 27 year old Dalit Scholar Rohith Vemula certainly didn’t deserve this. He was a bright chap and had his whole life in front of him. But the path of baseless revolution has claimed many lives, Rohith is a plus one to the tally!
