Ram Mandir Pran Pratishtha 2.0 and Its Significance in India’s Religious, Political, Cultural Landscape

Think…think harder…Okay stop trying. Let me sum her up for you. She was one of those attractive faces in Bollywood who came, who saw and who vanished. Last year she wrote a heart wrenching letter to Narendra Modi (and Shah Rukh and Salman <and I don’t know why?>). She asked them graciously to stop rapes in India. Although No Modi (and Shah Rukh and Salman) can rid us of a social evil just like that but at least her intentions were good. No, they weren’t. She was of those unscrupulous actors who was using a social evil to promote a movie. Yes, some director was magnanimous enough to give her a movie and she was trying her best to give the movie a push by sticking to a social issue. Many people applauded her, obstinate realists like ourselves ripped her phoney sentiments right-left and center.

Open Letters have been the Brahmastra of many 2 bit (Do kaudi ke) celebs to shoot to limelight. The latest open letter to hit the main stream media is the open letter by Shruti Seth. Shruti Seth is best known for her role in Rajneeti (Sitapur waala ticket dilwa dijiye naa sir, khoob mehnat karengey). She has also stared in a couple of forgettable daily soaps. In all, Shruti Seth has had a flop career. Hence she keeps taking digs at prominent politicians. A not so strange coincidence is that all of them happen to be from the saffron camp. She doesn’t like the PM and is quite vocal about it. One fine day she decided to turn offensive. She tweeted against the PM. She used her FoE in the best possible way and ended up hurting a lot of people. So people retaliated in the choicest of language and the poor lady was hurt. People used their FoE creatively too.

So the end result is that she came up with the baap of all open letters which she concludes like this:

Dear Sir, if you truly wish to empower women I urge you to condemn this kind of hatred being spread in your name. Regretfully, I deleted my initial tweet because of the backlash. But I stand by what I said and I’ll reiterate it here: “Selfies don’t bring about change, reform does. So please try and be bigger than a photograph. Come on!” And as for my initial reservation about the initiative being nothing more than eyewash, I am deeply saddened to see that, in the end, I was proved right.

Let us dig it sentence by sentence:

Dear Sir – Dear was not the part of her initial tweet. Good that it’s there finally.

I urge you to condemn this kind of hatred being spread in your name – No hatred was being spread in the PM’s name, people got furious over her juvenile tweets and pointless accusations

Regretfully, I deleted my initial tweet because of the backlash – She deleted her tweet because her hypocrisy stood exposed

Selfies don’t bring about change, reform does – Yes because Shruti Seth knows that no ‘real’ work is going on, she has a blueprint of all government schemes, policies that are being drafted and the ones that are still being thought over. All ministries copy her in their letters.

So please try and be bigger than a photograph – True. Because it was Modi’s photograph that started the Jan Dhan Yojana. Modi’s photo started the Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao Abhiyaan. Modi’s Photo was the reason why Mudra bank and BRICS bank were founded. Modi’s photo gave a freehand to Indian Army in the Myanmar operations. It was Modi’s photo that made Yoga Day a possibility. Modi’s photo made a speech at the UN. Modi’s photo travelled to USA, Japan, China, Mongolia, Canada etc.

And as for my initial reservation about the initiative being nothing more than eyewash – Yeah! Because Kiss of love is a solid change. Ranting about Army atrocities in Kashmir is solid-er and Praying for Ghaza is the Solid-est. All these daughter-shauter can wait re…

But we have to give it to Shruti Seth. She has managed to attract a lot of eyeballs. I hope some director gives her a ticket to Sitapur this time. The lady has worked really hard and she deserves some recognition. When is the next Big Boss season by the way?

Oh come on Atul!!! Just for a change, see the bigger picture as you surely are capable of!! You just overlooked all the backlash she got in response of her tweet… People called her a prostitute, threatened her with rape and mocked her because of having a muslim husband only coz she spoke against the #selfieWithDaughter thing (as is surely her right as an Indian citizen). And hence she faced a lot of backlash! I don’t believe that you are so stupid as to not see the irony of the situation. What is sadder is, you choose to criticize Shruti Seth but, not the hundreds of people who abused her and eventually proved her right! Being an escapist diplomat aren’t we?

Well, She made a pretty much stupid post. She should be grateful that she posted something of that level of stupidity on twitter, not on 4chan.

I believe her original tweet was this: “Selfies don’t bring about change, reform does. So please try and be bigger than a photograph. Come on!”
Yes, you are completely right!! What a stupid post :) And calling her a slut, bringing in her husband’s religion and questioning her right to hold and express her opinion just because she hasn’t had the best career in Bollywood are all completely justified!
I am sure this is the best way to improve the situation of daughters in our country, first click selfies with your daughter, and then harass and abuse a woman for expressing her opinions on a public forum. Great job!! :)

    • Sagnik Sinha says:

well, seeing that you absolutely did not get the point I was trying to make and the fact that you don’t even know what “grateful” means or what context that word can be used, I don’t think you are the best person to pass a remark on someone’s stupidity

    • mayoisnail says:

mmm, what I wanted to say was internet is gonna hurt you for your opinions, just don’t whine about it by writing some open letters and stuff..

    • Aryan Nathan says:

Wow! Like the girls are raped because they ‘asked for it!’ Right?
      No wonder you’re pro-TFI. #bhaktspotted

    • Rex says:

Because being trolled by random people online is exactly the same as being raped, correct? Who’s the dumbfuck now?

    • Aryan Nathan says:

Ever heard of logic or reasoning, Sherlock?
      Nevermind!

    • Rex says:

Moron who equates trolling with rape lecturing me on logic, irony just killed itself again.

    • Aryan Nathan says:

Cared to read the word ‘like’? I meant this is the same kind of logic used when someone physically abuses another person and reasons that they ‘deserved it.’
Internet trolling has been observed to have caused emotional devastation and we’ve heard of cases of suicides post trolling.
But by your logic, if the crime is not as serious as your standards of crime, we shouldn’t take it seriously.

    • Rex says:

And of course, it was that alone which drove them to suicide. Where is the rash of suicides that ought to be proportional to the number of trolls online on every single forum? This is like blaming videogames alone for school shoot outs because the shooter happened to play them while ignoring other factors like parental abuse/neglect or mental illnesses that don’t plague millions of gamers worldwide.

    • Aryan Nathan says:

Let’s cut it short.. So you think internet trolling is an essential part of a responsible society right? It’s not only intractable, but totally harmless and should be practiced freely!
Sorry, but I totally disagree with you.

    • Rex says:

Can you spell straw man argument?

    • Aryan Nathan says:

Well, you’re either for or against sir

    • Rex says:

For or against trolling? How about neither? Trolls have existed since the dawn of the internet, and learning to ignore them is better than trying to frame new censorship laws that curtail free speech and will be misused by government to crush dissent. If someone commits suicide because of comments made by idiots, than that person has serious issues. Else suicide by troll would be a lot more common.

    • Aryan Nathan says:

Okay, good point there! But in that sense, even passing lewd comments while a girl walks by can be considered free speech and getting offended by it childish.
All I’m saying is a society we must atleast try to imbibe some responsibility and compassion for others rather than stand by our mistakes reasoning it’s not meant to be taken seriously.

    • Rex says:

Cat calling a woman when she’s not interested is about a step removed from stalking and carries an implicit physical threat. Quite different from blocking some random troll on Facebook or Twitter and getting on with your life. Also, sweeping imperative statements about society are what led to draconian laws in the first place. Societies are made up of individuals, whenever someone tries to shape ‘society’ according to some ideal by imposing laws from above, however well intentioned, it never ends well. You can try to educate people to change their behavior, but coercion creates more problems than it fixes.

    • Aryan Nathan says:

I’m saying something similar. Ofcourse, putting a law or outright ban against trolling would be a wrong way to deal with another wrong. But educating people about their online behaviour is imperative and we must reach a consensus about being responsible online. And trolling is not done!

I mean, we live in a society where people start fighting at the slightest incitation and others ignore them saying Yeh to hote rehta hai! How can you hurt someone, even by means of words is something I dont understand. And that too a total stranger! Why should she take your shit? Not to forget I’m debating with a person who started off calling me a dumbfuck moron. Avoidable!

    • Rex says:

Remind me again who started off on the high horse with an invalid comparison. As for ‘how can you hurt someone’, welcome to the real world. Unless someone is physically threatening you or stalking you (those acts are already illegal), so called online harassment is best ignored. And if one is so disturbed by what random people say online, then they need psychological counseling to identify underlying problems.

    • Aryan Nathan says:

Heck, I thought for a moment that you’re sensible. You’re back to the same bullshit that I deserved to be abused because you didn’t agree to my viewpoint.
How convenient is it to say we will continue our fancy ways, you deal with it.
Don’t get me wrong, I agree we’re at fault for creating some over-sensitive citizens, but for some the slightest push is enough. We can be a bit more sympathetic. When there’s an option to communicate civilly, if you choose to abuse, it says something about you rather than the one being abused.
As far as I’m concerned, it’s the people who find entertainment in abusing and trolling others that need serious psychological examination.

    • Rex says:

People are different. They come in all sorts of flavors of weird, and for some (not all), trolling on the internet compensates for something they lack in the outside world. One can personally be more sympathetic etc, but that’s all. You cannot change the behavior of others, best to just accept that most people are idiots and move on.
I for one don’t bother engaging with AAPtards, creationists, climate change deniers and conspiracy theory nutcases (9/11 was an inside job, UFOs are real, chemtrails and other paranormal crap) because if appeal to reason, logic and facts work, they wouldn’t be holding such crazy views in the first place and any conversation just degenerates into name calling.

    • Vivek says:

If she criticized Modi for some valid folly, no one would have replied to her tweet. Let alone getting angry and choisest replies. Like why he hasn’t invaded pakistan yet? Or even after one full year, why there is still poverty and unemployment in india?

But no, she has to criticize a benign celebration of fathering daughters.

It is natural for people to get angry at such childishness. Criticize karo par mudda to dumdar ho.

Like now she can criticize Modi on LalitGate or vyapam. These are worthy topics to put siege on NM. But no one will pay attention now.

    • Code for living says:

“Selfies don’t bring about change, reform does. So please try and be bigger than a photograph. Come on” – What is so invalid in this? And why are you giving a verdict that the reason of criticism was not a valid one. Modi as CM of Gujarat could not change the mindset of Darbar’s and Barots in Kutch/Saurashtra where even today when girl child are born, they are drowned in a vessel full of milk. How do you expect a selfie to bring that reform? Where are the laws that not only protect women by also death of girl child by parents and kins. And by calling her prostitute and abusing her daughter, the followers of modi have proved that they can go to any stage of barbarism just to protect dignity of modi and his initiatives.

Otherwise, no sane person would screw for virginity.

    • Vivek says:

Do you have information on such families in gujarat? Why dont you email their details to NCW?

Everybody knows what struggling actresses and models hav to do to maintain lifestyle.

    • Code for living says:

Moron, think before your protect the people you vote and understand how democracy and constitution works. If NCW was so very effective, we would not have a single illegal prostitution houses in the country which by the way is illegal. Second, we elect government who appoints police to handle such issues. If the government and panchayat who inspite of knowing all this would keep a blind eye, do you think any complaint to NCW would even work. Third all the women jails that use the prisoners for prostitution and surrogatory birth would have been stopped.

Are you born yesterday my dear friend. Its easy to point out government machinery but lets accept that BJP is as corrupt (or worse ) than UPA. Nothing more. A Women was abused and threatened to be molested. His child to be kidnapped and his husband who happens to be muslim would be killed. What did cyber police do ? BJP works on mob mentality. May it be babri masjid, 2002 riots or cyber attacks on criticism to modi..Amit Shah is so very eunuch that he prefers to hide behind mobs when ever he intends to shut noises and voices that are against BJP.

      Understand.

    • Sagnik Sinha says:

Wow!!! So you really think that “no one” would have retorted had her arguments been valid? Do you have so much faith in the fringe elements of the BJP and its supporters? All she did was criticize something(although the criticism was a little harsh, it wasn’t illegal). Although these abuses and slurs weren’t made personally by Modi, they were made in Modi’s name! And that’s scary and a big reason to worry don’t you think? I mean, if I were Modi’s fanboy and had a clear conscience, I would be pretty aghast! Not at Shruti Seth but at the multitudes of NaMo fans!

    • Vivek says:

Modi’s name? What’s wrong with you people?

He is taking reformative measures like never before. Alongwith reforms he exhorts people for symbolic patrticipation. What’s wrong in that?

I tell you just one reform out of many which directly relates to lives of daughters.

For all the history of school education in india, large percentage of poor and villege girls dropped out after hitting puberty . Because there were no toilets in government run schools. In last 70 years no government took notice of this problem.

Just after taking charge Modi instructed HRD minister to build clean girls toilets in every school of India. At centre’s expense.

And before june 2015 every school is equipped with modern toilet. Is this not reform?

Or Shruti Aslam is unaware of this small but apt step? Or she hates him just because (you know she is Muslim now और नया मुल्ला ज़्यादा ज़ोर से बांग मारता है :) )

Well, it might be the absolute post-mortem of her post, but I guess she was criticised in a vague way she didn’t deserve. It might be a publicity stunt, but the #people should have watched their way, their language, if they were representing or responding on behalf of PMO, they should have maintained the required dignity. Though I don’t understand why #people can’t maintain digital etiquette. I appreciate your bringing this in light. Thumbs Up!!

My opinion is that her remarks were juvenile…. Utterly stupid but yes! This, in no way justifies the abuses. People reacted in way more stupid manner than she did.
At the same time it should also be considered that why is she complaining to the prime minister about it? Does he manages those accounts? In his meet with the social media influence people he said in his speech that people should refrain from using foul language. This was said by modiji long before I even knew who shruti Seth was. PM doesn’t handle people’s accounts on twitter
So it was another stupid response by shruti Seth in for the stupid response of people to her stupid tweet.

Such a sad article ds one..hw well the author(a certain pro-saffron camp wala,if I may say so)has justified the hate tweets and utter bullshit that she was subjected to just because she dared to voice her opinion..n dear author, der was no sense of disrespect aimed at the pm in the tweet..and bringing a person’s success or failure in the industry in the article just tells the taste in which this article has been jotted down.

Dear Atul, a year back my friend admin of another BJPian page like yours, ‘Bhak Sala’ called me and said, “I’m being offered big money to promote BJP what to do?” I said its your page, take your call as per your dignity or survival. He accepted the offer and now he is getting his monthly payment from the partys IT cell and doing very well.

I won’t be surprised if you’ve done the same as thats what people accuse you and your page of. But as its matter of choosing between dignity and survival, you are free to take your call too.

But what is wrong between this whole business is, you have sold your soul to a substandard man and party. In the history of Indian politics no PM or party (and its followers) has been ridiculed for their irrational attitude and lies as the current one. Its the first time all the partys followers started behaving like bunch of Jokers to the country.

The latest occasion is this hypocritical #SelfieWithDaughter campaign by a PM who just bailed out a man called Babu Bajrangi who has confessed on camera that he split open women wombs by swords and flung the babies. The madness was such that most of the Modi followers like you started directly or indirectly abusing the women to your best, who tried to use their democratic right to protest. So much that PM had to intervene and stop the abuses

    Like Modi,

    – You do not have anything to say on Vyapam Scam which gonna break all the records of witness killings forget what Modi promised about whistleblower protection law.
    – You justify scam by 4 women of BJP and question ACs in Kejriwals office.
    – You avoid talking about Modis record breaking electricity bill but remember Kejriwals.
    – You cannot justify Modis front page election ads or crores of election campaigning money but you mislead people by Delhi govt. advertising budget which also includes anti-corruption helpline to polio awareness etc. and all other public service ads which, Modis election campaign does not.
    – You question Tomars false degree, but advocate Smritis false affidavit or multiple pan cards.
    – You never questioned centre governments reduction of education budget or betraying Army heros pension. But questioning Swaraj budget.

So in short, you have sold yourself to a man who is exploiting your Mother(land) bit by bit by paying you for the same. And advocating his misdeed to the nation by character assassination of women of your country just because they used their right to protest.

How do you sleep my friend? How much of hatred it takes to stalk Krishnan or Shruti and rip their quote apart bit by bit?

I am a hindu brahmin too. But never my parents teach me such hatred towards Muslims/ Christians/ Women/ Quota system. What kind of upbringing you had? Never you apply all those abuses to your mother or wife and try to get into the shoes of those sole women you abuse, to see how it feels?

I wonder. And if you do feel frustrated about someone asking about your family and upbringing. This is how it feels.

    Shame!

BJP and Modi should pay royalty and protection fees to AAP and Congress instead of their PR and defense lawyers because whenever someone criticizes Modi, chamchas like you will spit out congi or aaptard without even reading a comment.
Just because you are a BJP stooge and paid commentator on social media doesn’t mean everyone gets paid to criticize modi. We criticize any political party that either works against their own ideology or constitution of india. But I am sure this is way beyond your pea sized brain that is focused on weekly payroll money based on number of comments and abuses you hurl on anyone having an opinion on Modi…..

Frustrated Indian – A Simple question ? Do you agree on the responses she got ? All said and done, if the bhakts had taken the comment in the right spirit, the language would not have been what it was. Doesnt it prove the 2002 crime true where bhakts like these went and burned down people just because they thought Modi will be happy about it. Stop stooping down and selling yourself to politicians. They will eventually just treat you like another product or medium. Use common sense. It may not be widely available but is useful all the time.
BTW – working in a flop film may not make everyone publicity hungry..

Well a silly woman made a silly statement, got even more sillier reactions and earned her 15 mins of fame!! there are fringe elements who abuse and does not matter which team/party they belong to… they abuse good stuff, they abuse silly stuff and they just plain “ABUSE” the online anonymity gives a person a right to speak their mind and also gives that same right and cover to thousands who abuse… let us not group/brand them… they abuse! period!! the woman who actually should have got trolled was Krishnan with her comment which indecent, abusive and displayed her mental bias!!!! But no one expects anything better…. she abuses too so she gets it… lets never play the woman card… victim card… you say something… you will get back… so use sarcasm, wit to convey rather than abuse is the way to be online!!!!! Twitter or Facebook none of them are generous or compassionate – while there are thousands who might appreciate what you say -hundred will hurl abuse, be prepared or dont come online…. expecting decency online when you dont even find it in personal interactions… is idealistic!!

U clearly are a Modi supporter, which might b a good thing but poor woman was forced to face a lot of flak for speaking the truth…
In fact, to hell with the truth; we live in a country where everyone has a right to voice their opinion and is definitely not entitled to be called a whore for doing so…
So, even though no one is gonna ask you to sympathize with the woman, which you clearly should; you certainly need to stop justifying the perpetrators of her cyber abuse…
    Peace…

Shruti Seth ‘Aslam’ is another example of ‘Love Jihad’, women like her are largely responsible for rising cases of ‘crime against women’, she declares it openly that she eats beef on her Twitter which shows her mentality. Her favourite couple in industry is Mini Mathur Khan and Kabir Khan, another example of Love Jihad, this is now so common that the whole country may get converted in a few decades.

She loves watching AIB etc. and other filthy sex shows and used very dirty words publicly. She tweeted that she is ‘breastfeeding’ her 11 months old daughter ‘Alina Aslam’, but why she needs to show her breast to everyone for that?Look at her videos so that you make out what she is all about. She is a feminist who has double standards, there are many such flop actresses and models in Mumbai who get into prostitution; put fake molestation and rape charges on men and make controversial statements just to get cheap fame and publicity. She also promotes sex outside marriage and all other nonsense. Her whole idea is to revive her dwindling acting career by doing such stupid things.

Look at these videos to make out what she is all about:

She does not even know how to cook anything:

On Twitter, someone had posted various tweets of Shruti Seth done earlier (2013, 2014), where she uses the choicest of abuses and colourful language when she gets into arguments! So complaining about being on the receiving end is a bit rich!
