It is difficult being Modi

It is difficult being Modi

It is difficult being Modi. Modi may go around smiling with his rock star like charisma, waving to the onlookers, embracing foreign PMs and Presidents, clicking selfies and delivering stimulating speeches one after the other. Modi may epitomize “hope” for a lot of Indians. Modi may be symbolic to the new resurgent India. But it is difficult being Modi. There is one Modi and there is an impatient nation looking up to him, there are vitriolic critics always ready with a toxic rant, there is the prying media, there are funded and self-motivated anti India forces and there are self-styled revolutionaries and anarchists.

A long part of my day went in analyzing the so called report cards that the media houses had prepared for Modi. The ratings ranged from pathetic to below average. The leftists infested English Media of India called Modi a pompous and egocentric Prime Minister who is all about oratory and is a complete dud when it comes to implementation. The stats do not support them but there supposition is supreme and verdict is final. A Pompous PM who sucks at implementation. The Foreign Media wasn’t much integrated in writing Modi off like the desi media but some of them were equally spiteful. Upon careful inspection, one may notice that most of the malicious articles against Modi were penned by our own desi journalists.

But journalists are not the only one that Modi is fighting. He is fighting a whole bunch of people willing to retard India’s progress. They are collectively called Anti-NaMo forces and are not very difficult to identify. The chief among them are:

The Anti-Hindu Forces: Let’s face it. English-speaking literati do not recognize themselves as Hindus. They are neither proud of their heritage nor do they connect with the Hindu ethos. They do not utter a word when a minority instigates a communal riot but they have a habit of yacking about 2002 Gujarat riots incessantly. Most of them are of course Hindus (by an unfortunate accident of birth). India under a Hindu nationalist leader is too scary for their “secular” minds. Most of them are found lurking on Social media spewing venom against the ruling government day and night.

The Anti-India forces: BBC reporter Leslee Udwin made a documentary on Nirbhaya Gangrape. She went ahead and interviewed the rapist. The rapist’s view was widely publicized and if that was not enough, even his lawyer’s view was advertised over and over again. She openly flouted a lot of laws while making the documentary. And BBC paralleled the mentality of the rapist and his lawyer with the mentality of the common man of India. Yes, that’s right. They tried to prove how an average man in India is a blatant misogynist and a potential rapist. The government banned the video thankfully but the damage was done till then. It was then advertised that the Modi government is against the very freedom of expression. Similarly “Sikhs” appealed to the Canadian Government to detain the Indian Prime Minister thereby sending a clear message how minority(and not just Muslims) are stifled in Modi’s India. It remain known only to the astute observers that those Sikhs were Khalistanis advocating for creation of Khalistan from Punjab.

The Conversion agents: Attacks on Churches were blown out of proportion. The media played the impatient judge and charged the Government of being intolerant. The attacks were given communal colour. The reasons of the attacks were revealed much later. Most of the incidents were either unintended vandalism or minor cases of theft. These remained largely unknown. Decisions to revoke visas for those who are foreign evangelists was a bold decision and should be continued.

The AGNGOs (Anti Government NGOs): Most of the NGOs today are more about money and less about social work. They have become a multi crore industry to earn free and easy money. Their donors remain largely unknown and their systems remain highly opaque. NGOs also serve as a system of converting black money into white. And the foreign funded NGOs like the Greenpeace do everything to curb the progress of the government. A center-right reformist PM is bound to haunt them. Modi shut their shops in no time and hence their ire against him.

The Friend turned Foes: There are the carpetbagger friends who supported Modi in gluttony of a position and now that they haven’t been given a chance, they are venting their frustration out. Arun Shourie and Madhu Kishwar are not the only ones.

The anti Modi faction within BJP: A political observer told me that there are some BJP leaders who are rejoicing over BJP’s rout in Delhi elections as it will loosen Amit Shah’s hold over BJP. The same political observer told me that BJP’s loss in Bihar will signal Amit Shah’s departure. What a pity?

The English media is just a pawn. It speaks what the Anti NaMo Forces tell it to. And given the fact that most of the BJP’s spokespersons are imprudent and most of the ministers are inarticulate, hence BJP comes across as a defensive party and a disoriented unit. It is not always about doing but it is also about saying that you have done it. It is not always about defending but also about attacking.

So you see how being Modi is a difficult task. He is playing a Handicap match with multiple opponents committed to destroy him. But as an ordinary citizen of India and the founder of a platform with over half a million patrons, let me give my verdict too.

I am inspired. I am thrilled. I am optimistic.

After really long time, I am reading something which very appropriately describes the scenario in India. For 60 years people were on mute mode and allowed the some privileged to loot and plunder. Now, when some one has shown them hope and made them feel optimistic, they are getting impatient and want their country to change overnight, while they sit at home on their ass and watch for countless hours, biased venom spewing news and scroll through endless social media feeds. Some one has rightly said, ‘democracy in a country is effective only when its people are smart enough to make correct choices and have the right conscience to decide what is right and what is wrong ‘.

I think some people understood that by ‘ache din’, there will be a rolls royce parked outside their homes, they will go out for grocery shopping and they will get everything for free and of-course they will get free credit for black money (many don’t even know clearly what is black money). 2 minutes silence for such delusional souls.

I am inspired, I am thrilled and I am optimistic and I will also work my ass off to bring a change. Peace

One must admit that after a long time rather first time the common man especially the youth has taken interest in what the govt is doing!!! and this itself is a great achievement!! The Govt is really working hard and surely one will see the change in next few years which were not seen in the past 60 years! “Ache Din!” doesnt mean u’ll get everything for free! one has to work hard to get something! during his campaign only he said that he wont give anything for free rather he’ll make the youth capable that they’ll be able to spend for what they want! I am inspired. I am thrilled. I am optimistic!!

Awesome..i always wonder how media kills logic when it comes to criticizing Modi. They call Modi anti farmer..let me explain how this is a bull shit argument – i) The amendments in land acquisition bill remove the consent clause only for government projects. In a developing country like India govt cant wait for years to start a project. With 4 times the compensation the clause is just and need of the hour. ii) Land acquisition law has nothing to do with farmer suicides. Farmers are committing suicides because of bad weather conditions and because of the fact that previous congress governments did not have proper insurance policies in place. iii) 67% population employed in agriculture contributes only 12% of GDP. When a farmer working on 1 acre of land passes on his land to his 3 children..all of them cannot survive on those tiny pieces of land. We need to create skill based employment opportunities to absorb people working in disguised unemployment. Modi’s Make in India campaign hopes to achieve that.

Nice one. But I have an idea.
Can Indian Government, take all the agricultural lands and I mean all of it, and employ farmers as employees with fixed salary and health care benefits ?
Just like you and me go to office every day and collect our salary at the end of the month, why not recruit Farmers, create JOBS for the Farmers, pay them fixed salary. It’d be more simpler and excellent working plan, we can create an agricultural industry that apart from providing for the country, can also export the agricultural products and strengthen the foreign trade.

What I think sometimes is that i won’t be possible, if it were, these Government would’ve already thought of it.

    • Priyanka says:

This was tried by the socialist govt in Russia long back. But it back fired because farmers had no strong incentive to work hard on fields. The productivity declined sharply and govt had to finally give back land to farmers.
