US President Donald Trump has once again stirred controversy with his repeated and ever-changing claims about brokering peace between India and Pakistan during the military conflict earlier this year. On Tuesday, Trump said that seven jets were shot down during the standoff. This, however, is a shift from his earlier claim that only five jets were destroyed. His constant flip-flops and attempts to insert himself as a peacemaker in the India-Pakistan conflict have been met with disbelief and criticism.
India, which carried out decisive retaliatory strikes under Operation Sindoor, maintains that the truce was achieved bilaterally after Pakistan’s own Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) called the Indian DGMO to plead for a ceasefire following the heavy destruction of multiple Pakistani air bases. Despite this, Trump shamelessly continues to credit himself, clearly in a bid to impress the Nobel Peace Prize committee.
Trump’s False Narrative on Jet Kill Count
US President Donald Trump first claimed in July that five planes were downed as India and Pakistan exchanged hostilities. Now, in his latest speech, he has raised the figure to seven, further muddying the waters of truth. His inability to remain consistent has raised questions about whether he is deliberately exaggerating events to portray himself as a global dealmaker.
The facts, however, remain clear. Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh of the Indian Air Force confirmed that five Pakistani fighter jets were shot down by India’s S-400 air defence systems, marking the largest ever surface-to-air kill recorded. Alongside the jets, a critical Airborne Early Warning and Control (AEW&C) aircraft was also destroyed. India’s precision strikes crippled several Pakistani bases and forced Islamabad into submission.
But rather than acknowledging India’s operational brilliance, Trump shamelessly inserts himself into the narrative—twisting facts, inflating numbers, and taking undue credit.
India’s Retaliation and Pakistan’s Plea for Ceasefire
The escalation began after the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, on April 22, which claimed the lives of 26 civilians. In response, India launched Operation Sindoor, targeting terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
The operation inflicted massive damage on Pakistan, destroying multiple air bases and neutralizing hostile assets. Overwhelmed by India’s retaliation, the Pakistani DGMO reached out to his Indian counterpart and begged for a ceasefire.
New Delhi has categorically denied any role of external mediation, stating that the ceasefire was purely a result of India’s strength and Pakistan’s desperation. Yet, Trump shamelessly parades the story as if it were his diplomatic triumph.
Trump’s Shameless Bid for a Nobel Prize
US President Donald Trump has repeatedly linked his so-called “peace efforts” to trade threats, claiming he gave India and Pakistan “24 hours to stop fighting” or face withdrawal of US trade deals. He continues to boast that it was his tough stance that halted what he dramatically described as an impending “nuclear war.”
In reality, Trump’s statements are nothing more than grandstanding theatrics. His shifting figures from five jets last month to seven jets this month only expose his lies. If the pattern continues, as critics sarcastically point out, next month Trump may very well claim that India and Pakistan lost their entire fleets in the conflict.
These shameless distortions are clearly aimed at burnishing his image before the Nobel Peace Prize committee, despite the fact that India has publicly rubbished his mediation claims.
Absurd Lies Going Beyond Control
US President Donald Trump’s claims about the India-Pakistan conflict are not just factually wrong but dangerously misleading. The truth is simple: India’s Operation Sindoor destroyed multiple Pakistani assets, shot down fighter jets, and forced Pakistan into requesting a ceasefire. Trump had nothing to do with it.
By inflating numbers and weaving himself into the story, Trump is not only insulting India’s sacrifices but also indulging in a shameless attempt to rewrite history for his personal glory. His lies now going from five to seven jets are spiraling out of control. If unchecked, his rhetoric could soon reach absurd levels.
In the end, Trump’s repeated claims reveal one undeniable fact: this is less about peace and more about his desperate hunger for global recognition.
