Param Bir Singh and the Saffron Terror Hoax: Will the Former Top Cop Be Brought to Justice?

Saffron Terror Hoax: Is Justice Closing in on Param Bir Singh?

Was the “Saffron Terror” narrative manufactured for political gains? Explosive revelations now raise this question louder than ever. A key witness in the Malegaon blast case has told the court he was forced to name UP CM Yogi Adityanath. And now, retired ATS officer Mehboob Mujawar has exposed a chilling directive: arrest RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat—under secret orders from the then Chief Investigation Officer of the Malegaon blast Param Bir Singh. Singh, already mired in multiple controversies, is being accused of orchestrating a fake narrative to vilify Hindu leaders and feed the Congress’s vote bank politics. It’s time to ask: When will Param Bir Singh be brought to justice?

Parambir Singh’s Dubious Track Record

The name Parambir Singh has surfaced repeatedly in multiple high-profile controversies. From allegedly refusing duty during the 26/11 Mumbai attacks, to being accused of making Ajmal Kasab’s mobile phone disappear, Singh’s integrity as a law officer has come under question.

Former ATS officer Shamsher Khan Pathan claimed Singh took possession of Kasab’s mobile a critical piece of evidence and never handed it over. That phone, it was alleged, had intel directly connecting Kasab to handlers in Pakistan.

Moreover, Sadhvi Pragya, who was acquitted after years of mental and physical torture, blamed Singh for orchestrating abuse in custody. She accused him of breaking her spine, showing her pornographic content, and questioning her obscenely all to frame her under “saffron terror.”

Is it then a coincidence that every key figure Singh targeted belonged to the Hindu nationalist fold?

The Shocking Claims: ‘Arrest Mohan Bhagwat’

In a stunning disclosure after the acquittal of all accused in the 2008 Malegaon blast case, retired ATS inspector Mehboob Mujawar has revealed that he was instructed to arrest RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat—a man who wasn’t even RSS chief at the time of the blast. According to Mujawar, these orders came from none other than then ATS Chief Investigating Officer Param Bir Singh.

Mujawar asserted that the goal was clear: fabricate a “saffron terror” case to malign Hindu groups and RSS leadership. “Mohan Bhagwat was going to be included in the case to make it appear like a saffron terror case,” Mujawar said. These revelations, if proven true, suggest a deep-rooted attempt to shift the national security narrative for vote bank politics, particularly during UPA’s tenure.

Witness Says: “I Was Forced to Name Yogi Adityanath”

Equally disturbing is the testimony of a hostile witness, Milind Joshi Rao, who told the NIA court that he was illegally detained and coerced by Maharashtra ATS to implicate Yogi Adityanath, Sadhvi Pragya, Indresh Kumar, and others associated with the Hindu right.

Rao’s claims were part of a 1,000+ page judgment where the court noted serious lapses, including the lack of cogent evidence, the turning hostile of 37 witnesses, and politically motivated attempts to frame individuals. This is not just a legal failure—it reflects a calculated effort to criminalize Hindu organizations under the guise of terror investigations.

How the Saffron Terror Narrative Was Created

The term “Saffron Terror” didn’t appear out of thin air. It was seeded and nurtured during the UPA regime. Congress leaders like P. Chidambaram, Digvijaya Singh, and Sushil Kumar Shinde publicly pushed the idea of “Hindu terror” to counter global focus on Islamic extremism.

On August 25, 2010, Home Minister P. Chidambaram warned about the rise of so-called saffron terrorism, despite no substantial evidence. As revelations pour in, it becomes evident that this was not an investigative lapse—but a deliberate political conspiracy to demonize an entire religious identity for short-term electoral gains.

Meanwhile, BJP leaders, including Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis, have rightly called it out: “The 2008 conspiracy has been exposed.”

It’s Time for Accountability

When will Param Bir Singh face the law? The evidence and testimonies now point towards a concerted effort—steered by powerful officers under political influence—to craft the “Saffron Terror” narrative. A narrative that diverted attention from real threats, falsely criminalized Hindu leaders, and polarized communities for political mileage.

With witnesses revealing coercion, officers speaking out, and the courts rejecting the entire premise, it is time for a full independent investigation into Param Bir Singh’s role. He cannot be allowed to hide any longer. His actions not only undermined the justice system, but also tried to redefine national security through the lens of political ideology.
