In a decisive blow to cross-border terror, the Indian Army neutralised two heavily armed infiltrators in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district under Operation Shivshakti. The terrorists, attempting to cross the Line of Control from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, were gunned down in a swift, coordinated action early Wednesday morning. Backed by timely intelligence from the Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP), the Army’s White Knight Corps ensured the infiltration bid was swiftly crushed before any harm could be inflicted. This success comes just days after another high-profile operation, codenamed Operation Mahadev, in which three Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists linked to the Pahalgam attack were eliminated.
Infiltration Bid Foiled: Operation Shivshakti Neutralises Two Terrorists
Two Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorists were killed in an early morning encounter in the Digwar sector of Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch, marking yet another successful counter-infiltration operation by Indian forces. The White Knight Corps of the Indian Army observed suspicious movement near the LoC and engaged the terrorists who attempted to breach the border under cover of darkness. After a brief exchange of gunfire, both infiltrators were neutralised. The operation, termed Operation Shivshakti, was carried out jointly with intelligence and logistical coordination from the Jammu and Kashmir Police.
According to official reports, three weapons were recovered from the slain terrorists. This operation is significant in the wake of heightened tensions along the border, and is part of a series of targeted missions to thwart any terrorist build-up or cross-border incursion attempts by Pakistan-backed groups. The Army confirmed that the operation is still in progress, with combing operations underway to ensure there are no other infiltrators hiding in the region.
Lashkar Footprints Confirmed Yet Again in Poonch
Initial identification of the terrorists confirms their affiliation with the Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba outfit, known for orchestrating several high-casualty attacks in the region. Intelligence officials believe the two slain terrorists were attempting to establish a supply line or reconnaissance point ahead of a larger planned strike. However, their plans were foiled due to the enhanced vigil along the LoC, especially in vulnerable stretches of the Poonch and Rajouri districts.
This marks the second high-impact operation within days in Jammu and Kashmir. It reaffirms the Army’s zero-tolerance stance toward cross-border terrorism and its enhanced operational readiness across all sectors. The Army’s coordination with local police and intelligence agencies ensured no collateral damage and swift elimination of the threat.
Justice Delivered for Pahalgam Attack
Just days prior to Operation Shivshakti, security forces executed another highly successful mission Operation Mahadev, which resulted in the killing of three terrorists linked to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack. The mastermind, Sulieman alias Hashim Musa, and two of his aides were eliminated in a well-planned strike in a forested area near Srinagar.
The joint operation involved elite Army Para Commandos, CRPF, and the Jammu and Kashmir Police. Home Minister Amit Shah confirmed in Parliament that all three terrorists were directly responsible for the cowardly attack in Pahalgam, where 26 innocent tourists were killed
Prime Minister Narendra Modi lauded the operation on social media platform X, stating, “Operation Mahadev and Operation Sindoor have played a vital role in eliminating cowardly terrorists.” DGP Nalin Prabhat also assured the public that the clean-up operations are ongoing, with remaining terrorists being identified and neutralised one by one.
Army’s Message Is Clear: No Safe Haven for Terror
Both Operation Shivshakti and Operation Mahadev send a clear signal to Pakistan and its terror proxies—India will not tolerate infiltration, terrorism, or any threats to its national security. The Army’s precise actions, aided by excellent intelligence collaboration, highlight the effectiveness of India’s current counter-terror doctrine under the Modi-led government.
From surgical strikes to real-time border surveillance, India’s posture has shifted decisively from reactive to offensive-defensive. The back-to-back elimination of terrorists not only secures the region but also sends a message of deterrence to handlers across the LoC.
India Strikes Back, With Precision and Resolve
The success of Operation Shivshakti following closely on the heels of Operation Mahadev demonstrates India’s resolve in protecting its borders and citizens. With rising infiltration attempts orchestrated by Pakistani terror outfits, India’s security forces remain vigilant and committed to thwarting every bid. Whether it’s the Line of Control or urban hideouts in the Valley, there is no safe space for terrorism to flourish under the watchful eyes of Indian forces. These operations are more than tactical victories—they are symbolic milestones in India’s war against terrorism, making it clear that the era of soft responses is over.
