Vadodara, Gujarat – Prime Minister Narendra Modi was greeted with thunderous applause and chants of “Bharat Mata ki Jai” as he arrived in Vadodara on Monday for a two-day tour of Gujarat. The atmosphere was electric, with thousands lining the streets to catch a glimpse of the Prime Minister during his vibrant roadshow.
A striking moment came when the family of Colonel Sofiya Qureshi, the Indian Army officer who led the recent Operation Sindoor, joined the celebration, showering flower petals on the Prime Minister in a symbolic gesture of respect and solidarity. The roadshow began from Vadodara Airport and moved along Airport Circle and New VIP Road, with a strong focus on women’s participation.
The event was part of the ‘Sindoor Samman Yatra’, which honored the courage of women, especially those widowed by the Pahalgam terror attack. Many participants wore attire honoring India’s armed forces, with slogans like “Modi-Modi” and “Vande Mataram” ringing through the air. Patriotic energy surged as people waved the tricolor, clicked selfies, and shouted, “We have won!”
Members of the African community also joined the welcome, holding placards reading, “Peace was attacked; India roared back with justice,” and “India’s courage is the light that ends the evil of terrorism.”
Operation Sindoor was launched in response to the brutal killing of 26 Indian tourists in Pahalgam on April 22 by Pakistan-backed terrorists. In a swift counteroffensive, Indian forces struck nine terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, neutralising top terrorists and dismantling their launch infrastructure.
While Indian strikes were focused on terror targets, Pakistani forces reportedly retaliated by shelling both military and civilian areas on the Indian side of the LoC, prompting further action by Indian forces to dismantle Pakistani military posts involved.
