Bollywood Critic and Deshdrohi film actor Kamaal R Khan, popular as KRK, has come out in support of the WAQF amendment bill passed by the Lok Sabha yesterday. The bill is currently under discussion in the Rajya Sabha.
Taking to social media, Khan lauded the move and said that Muslims should be “thankful” to PM Narendra Modi and Amit Shah for the BJP’s handling of Waqf reforms.
KRK, wrote, “Why call the BJP wrong if it does good work? Whatever Amit Shah said about the Waqf Board is completely correct. In fact, the BJP is doing excellent work for Muslims. All Muslims should thank PM Modi and Amit Shah.”
Why do we need to call BJP wrong, If even it does a good work? whatever Amit Ji is saying about #WaqfBoard that is 100% correct and truth. In fact @BJP4India is doing a very good work for Muslims. Therefore all Muslims should be thankful to PM @narendramodi Ji and @AmitShah Ji. pic.twitter.com/EOQW83WQoY

KRK also took a swipe at the Waqf board calling it a corrupt organization. He also went to assert that he will support the BJP if the WAQF is finished.
He stated, “What Waqf Board has done for me or any of my friend or any of my relative or anyone in my entire village or area? Nothing at all. Waqf Board is an organisation for some corrupt Muslims to run their kitchen. Therefore the BJP govt has done good work by amending WaqfBill. I will fully support Amit Shah and Narendra Modi ji if they will totally finish this organisation!”

The comments by KRK came after a long day in the Lok Sabha where the Waqf amendment Bill was passed by the Lower House. Speaking on the matter, Union Home Minister Amit Shah had said that the amendment focuses on better governance of Waqf properties, not theological control. “Misconceptions are being spread to create fear among minorities for political gains,” Shah said.
The Bill ensures transparency and efficiency in managing Waqf assets and non-Muslim members will only assist in administrative oversight, not theology.
KRK is known for his controversial statements on topics ranging from politics to Bollywood. Whether these statements on the Waqf are sincere or will KRK pull another U-turn, only time will tell.
Nonetheless, it is pertinent to note that a section of the Muslim community and a few Muslim clerics have also come out in support of the Waqf Amendment Bill. They have advocated a stern crackdown on the elites usurping powers in the garb of the Waqf Board’s unchecked powers and voiced support for a more representative Waqf board.
