US President Donald Trump himself tore into the Joe Biden administration, questioning why American taxpayer money was being funneled into a foreign country’s elections. Trump didn’t mince words he made it clear that these funds were intended to influence India’s electoral outcome and “get somebody else elected.” This raised concerns about foreign interference, with BJP MP Mahesh Jethmalani alleging that Veena Reddy, then Mission Director of USAID in India, played a key role in handling these funds. Her return to the US in July 2024, just after the elections, further fueled speculation about her involvement.
Who is Veena Reddy?
Veena Reddy, an Andhra Pradesh-born American diplomat, was the first Indian-American to serve as USAID’s Mission Director for India and Bhutan from August 2021 to July 2024. A career member of the US Senior Foreign Service, she has an extensive background in economic development, governance, and humanitarian aid. Before her tenure in India, she held key leadership roles within USAID, including Mission Director in Cambodia, where she oversaw food security, health, education, and “democracy” programs, and Deputy Mission Director in Haiti, where she managed post-earthquake reconstruction efforts. She also worked on governance and economic projects in Pakistan.
Veena Reddy holds a Juris Doctor (JD) degree from Columbia University School of Law and both a Master’s and Bachelor’s degree from the University of Chicago. Before joining USAID, she worked as a corporate attorney in New York, London, and Los Angeles. During her tenure in India, USAID collaborated with major government agencies, including NITI Aayog, the Ministry of Power, Indian Railways, and the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, working on projects related to economic policy, infrastructure, and public health.
USAID has been exposed as a tool of the American Deep State, meddling in Indian politics through NGO funding, media infiltration, and political interference. With $21 million allocated to influence elections, ties to George Soros, OCCRP, BBC, and support for Pak-based terror groups, USAID aims to destabilize India. The Modi government has many a times warned of foreign conspiracies, as opposition forces allegedly collaborate with these entities for political gains.
