USAID has been exposed as a tool of the American Deep State, meddling in Indian politics through NGO funding, media infiltration, and political interference. With $21 million allocated to influence elections, ties to George Soros, OCCRP, BBC, and support for Pak-based terror groups, USAID aims to destabilize India. The Modi government has many a times warned of foreign conspiracies, as opposition forces allegedly collaborate with these entities for political gains.
The funding activities of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) in India have yet again come under scrutiny following revelations by sources close to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The sources highlighted that USAID has played a role in influencing India’s political landscape, particularly during election years, through financial assistance to non-governmental organizations (NGOs).
According to sources, between 2004 and 2013, during the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government, USAID provided $204.28 million in direct funding to the Indian government, while NGOs received a significantly larger amount of $2,114.96 million. In contrast, under the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government from 2014 to 2024, USAID’s funding to the Indian government dropped sharply to just $1.51 million (until 2015), while financial aid to NGOs increased to $2,579.73 million.
The BJP has raised concerns about the timing of these funds, particularly in 2022, when there was a notable increase in USAID’s “Democracy, Human Rights, and Governance” funding. This coincided with Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra, which aimed to mobilize voters. If true, this brings us to a concerning outcome that such funding was directed toward shaping political discourse against the BJP government.
Among the top recipients of USAID funding are Catholic Relief Services, which received $218 million, and CARE International, which was granted $208 million. Another major recipient, the Organised Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP), was allocated $47 million. It must be kept in mind that a few Months ago, the dangerous triangle between George Soros, US-based agencies, and the Organised Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP) working hand in hand with the opposition to incite unrest was exposed. Mediapart’s investigation revealed that nearly half of OCCRP’s funding, a staggering $47 million, comes from US entities.
The recent revelation of USAID allocating $21 million to boost “voter turnout” in India has made the ears and eyes open of every citizen of India. US President Donald Trump himself tore into the Joe Biden administration, questioning why American taxpayer money was being funneled into a foreign country’s elections. Donald Trump didn’t mince words; he made it clear that these funds were intended to influence India’s electoral outcome and “get somebody else elected.”
USAID’ has also been caught funneling funds to Pakistan-based terror groups. Investigations revealed that USAID financed the Falah-e-Insaniat Foundation (FIF), a front for the terrorist organization Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) the very group responsible for the 26/11 Mumbai attacks. Despite FIF being designated as a terror outfit in 2010, USAID continued to launder money to it via Helping Hand for Relief and Development (HHRD), a Michigan-based NGO with proven ties to jihadist groups.
Moreover, WikiLeaks revealed USAID’s funding of Internews Network, which, along with Google and DataLeads, runs India’s “fact-checking” programs like FactShala, serving as tools of thought control. Through Sambhaavnaa Institute, USAID has trained 75,000 media personnel, shaping anti-India narratives. Journalists like Ravish Kumar, Akash Banerjee, Yogendra Yadav, Harsh Mander, and Kavita Krishnan have benefited from this network, leading smear campaigns against the Modi government.
