A major terror incident unfolded in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district on February 26, 2025, when terrorists opened fire on an Indian Army convoy. The incident took place at around 12:45 PM near Phal, Mallah which comes under the jurisdiction of Sunderbani Police. The terrorists opened several rounds of fire at the army convoy before fleeing from the crime spot.

The attack prompted a swift response from the Indian Army. The forces established a security cordon and launched a search operation along with the deployment of other security forces to check further escalation.

The Sunderbani sector is close to the Line of Control. The officials stated that the terrorists, believed to be for now hiding inside a forest, fired a few rounds at the Army vehicle.

Security forces retaliated against the terrorists, while reinforcements were being announced on the spot.

There were no immediate reports of any casualties in the brief firing near Phal village in the Sunderbani sector.

As per reports, the attack occurred approximately 5–6 kilometers away from the CRPF Battalion Headquarters at Sunderbani. Security personnel combed the area for further details about the assailants. Further updates are expected as the authorities continue to hunt down the attackers.

Early in the day, the Border Security Force (BSF) confirmed that they have neutralized an intruder on the International Border (IB) near the Pathankot border sector. Suspicious activity was spotted by BSF personnel during the early hours before dawn near BOP Tashpatan.

According to the army, the intruder was shot as he continued advancing despite repeated warnings from alert troops.

Both incidents serve to highlight the continuing security concerns in the area where the Indian Army and local troops are constantly on the guard to protect the borders and maintain peace in Jammu and Kashmir.
