Prime Minister Narendra Modi is on an official visit to France this week. He is participating in several official meetings and getting together with leaders around the world. Photos and videos related to PM Modi’s visit are all over the internet. We all know that Modi haters especially do research on videos and photos to bring something to dent the image of PM Modi and the country. This time, they also found a video clip for their agenda. A clip is being shared on social media claiming that French President Emmanuel Macron refused to shake hands with PM Modi. Since such claims related to the Prime Minister have been seen before, TFI decided to ‘fact-check’ this claim.
What is the claim?
The viral video has been shared by many people on social media. Congress leader Apoorva Bhardwaj, while sharing this video on Instagram, wrote, “How will President Macron learn double AI, now he has not even shaken hands with Vishwaguru.”
विश्वगुरु से हाथ तक नहीं मिलाया अब डबल AI कैसे सीखेंगे राष्ट्रपति मेंकौन 🤣 #घोरकलजुग pic.twitter.com/DVlsFg4y53

A user named Anshika Singh Yadav, who calls herself a ‘journalist’, shared a screenshot of the video and wrote, “Oh my God, this is so much insult to the PM of India. He wants to become a world leader but does not have even an iota of respect in the eyes of the British. Emmanuel Macron, who is the President of France, shook hands with America’s Vice President JD Vance. Modi ji was also sitting there. Modi ji also extended his hand, but Modi ji was ignored. Slowly, Emmanuel Macron shook hands with almost everyone sitting there, but what about Saheb?”
हाय दईया भारत के PM का इतना अपमान विश्वगुरु बनना चाहते है लेकिन इज्जत रत्ती भर भी नहीं अंग्रेजों की नजर में 😷

A user named Ankit Singh wrote, “Every step has a meaning in international relations. Emmanuel Macron has insulted India by ignoring Narendra Modi today. “I may not share my views with Narendra Modi, but Modi is the Prime Minister of India, and insulting the Prime Minister of India will not be tolerated.”

Many other users made similar claims. To investigate the claim, in order to ‘fact check’, TFI started scanning the videos of PM Modi’s visit to France. We found a video on Emmanuel Macron’s X account itself. In the post, While sharing a video, Macron tagged PM Modi and US Vice President JD Vance and wrote, “Welcome to Paris, my friend Narendra Modi! Nice to meet you, dear Vance! Welcome to all our partners for the AI Action Summit. Let’s get to work!.”

It became clear from the video shared with this post by Emmanuel Macron that the talk of insulting PM Modi is completely wrong. But even after this, we continued searching for viral videos.
After this, we found another video on X, which was the complete part of this video. In this, Prime Minister Modi and Macron are seen walking together. After this, both are seen standing together. After this, PM Modi sits down, and in this sequence, Macron is seen shaking hands with the people present there. Since Modi and Macron had entered the hall together recently, that meant both had met each other. In such a situation, Macron was seen busy shaking hands with the leaders of other countries. This is very normal when someone is the host.
Apart from this, there are many such videos on YouTube in which French President Emmanuel Macron is seen meeting and hugging PM Modi.
