An interesting scenario is unfolding in the 2025 Delhi elections, where former allies Arvind Kejriwal and Rahul Gandhi are now at loggerheads. The sweetness of their alliance has turned bitter, replaced by a war of words. With the relationship between the two opposition parties turning bitter, it is speculated that the party which will gain the most from the internal battle is the Bharatiya Janata Party.

During a recent rally, Rahul Gandhi launched a scathing attack on former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, accusing him of running a corrupt administration under the guise of “clean politics.” He specifically targeted the Delhi liquor scam, alleging that Kejriwal had handed over the city to liquor mafias while enjoying a luxurious lifestyle in his “Sheesh Mahal.”

Rahul Gandhi also took a dig at former Delhi Deputy CM Manish Sisodia, calling him the “architect” of the liquor scam, and urged voters to support Congress candidate Anil Chaudhary.

However, Congress seems to forget its own history of corruption, from the National Herald case to the 2G and Commonwealth Games scams, which have left an indelible stain on its reputation. Rahul Gandhi also alleged that Arvind Kejriwal has got no guts to fight Indian Prime Narendra Modi and his party BJP and is scared of him.

Arvind Kejriwal did not hold back in responding to Rahul Gandhi’s accusations. Taking to social media platform X (formerly Twitter), he directly targeted Rahul Gandhi and his family, questioning why no legal action had been taken against them in the National Herald case. He further criticized Congress, asking how Robert Vadra had received a clean chit despite numerous allegations against him.

Kejriwal’s post read:

“Modi ji puts people in jail even with fake cases like the liquor scam. Then why haven’t you or your family been arrested in the National Herald case? How did Robert Vadra get a clean chit from the BJP? Don’t lecture on bravery and fear the country knows who is courageous and who is a coward.”

— Arvind Kejriwal (@ArvindKejriwal) January 28, 2025

This exchange of attacks makes it evident that both AAP and Congress are more focused on tarnishing each other’s image rather than addressing real issues. On one side, Congress has a long history of corruption, while on the other, Arvind Kejriwal’s so-called “honest politics” has been marred by controversies and scams.

The ongoing political drama in Delhi raises the crucial question who will benefit the most from this infighting? Congress and AAP are both struggling to maintain their political stronghold, but their internal battle might pave the way for BJP’s victory in the upcoming Delhi Assembly Elections.

AAP has historically enjoyed strong support from Muslim voters, a demographic that has largely stayed away from the BJP. However, with Congress aggressively targeting this vote bank, Arvind Kejriwal is now facing a challenge. Congress has shifted its campaign focus to Muslim-majority areas, hoping to sway AAP’s supporters. Meanwhile, Arvind Kejriwal is reportedly seeking support from Samajwadi Party and Trinamool Congress leaders to consolidate Muslim votes.

But amidst this chaos, the bigger picture reveals an opportunity for BJP. As AAP and Congress engage in a fierce battle for Muslim votes, Hindu voters appear more inclined toward BJP. With a divided opposition and a potential consolidation of Hindu votes, the political equation in Delhi could shift dramatically. If AAP and Congress continue their bitter feud, BJP might just emerge victorious in the 2025 Delhi elections.
