Ruling Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath chaired an important cabinet meeting in the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj, disclosing a set of development projects to improve the infrastructural growth of the state and its economy. Proposals cleared in the meeting involve the setting up of three new medical colleges and a wide plan to be worked out to improve educational and industrial training facilities in the whole state.
CM Yogi Adityanath announced the setting up of medical colleges in Hathras, Kasganj, and Baghpat to increase access to healthcare and open new avenues for medical education in these areas. In addition, the state government will establish 62 new Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) and five centers for innovation, invention, and training, which will be crucial for skill development and an entrepreneurial environment.
In a meeting that concluded today, renewal of Uttar Pradesh’s Aerospace and Defence and Employment Policies was agreed on, after they have been in place for five years. This is likely to usher in new incentives intended to further invest in the state, particularly in these key sectors. CM Yogi emphasized that these steps would bolster the state’s industrial growth and employment opportunities.
To further enhance the state’s development, the Uttar Pradesh government will issue municipal corporation bonds for Prayagraj, Varanasi, and Agra. This is in line with previous successful bond issuances for Lucknow and Ghaziabad, which have yielded positive results in terms of urban development and branding.
Other major announcements included a development region in Prayagraj-Chitrakoot, which would follow the model of the Lucknow area in its development plan. This had sustainability as its primary agenda, with the aim of creating a development model. In addition, Varanasi will see a similar development region created in collaboration with Niti Aayog.
The Ganga Expressway, a major infrastructure project, will connect Prayagraj to key regions like Mirzapur, Bhadohi, and Kashi, which will link the area with the Purvanchal Expressway in Ghazipur. This will improve connectivity and facilitate economic development across the state.
